Jio, Airtel & Vi roaming in Europe vs a travel eSIM
For mobile data in Europe, your Jio,
Airtel or Vi SIM needs an international roaming pack. On 12 Oct 2026 the Jio international roaming plans for Europe and the Airtel and Vi packs below cost about ₹194 to ₹750 per GB where capped, and most include minutes.
Short answer: which Indian packs cover a multi-country Europe trip
Airtel’s list names all 29 Schengen states, and so does Jio’s World Pack. Jio’s 100-country packs miss Slovenia. Vi gives its best terms in 20 states and lower allowances in 9. Take the pack for calls on your Indian number, the eSIM for data.
Indian nationals made 1,742,493 departures to the 29 Schengen states in 2024 (our sum of Ministry of Tourism state rows). Before you buy, check every country on your route against your pack. Our Europe plans carry data only. Install the eSIM in India; it connects when you land abroad. We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.
A local SIM per country, from a network such as Orange,
Vodafone or Telekom, is a physical card and needs a free slot. Our Europe eSIM covers 41 countries, including all 29 Schengen states and the UK. The Europe SIM card guide: roaming vs a regional eSIM sets these packs against the eSIM for a multi-country trip.

Jio states that pack benefits are “applicable only on the preferred partner network in the visited country”. The World Pack also sells ₹1,499 for 2 GB over 14 days, about ₹750 per GB. See Jio roaming packs.
Airtel and Vi packs for Europe (table)
Airtel sells one pack set for every covered country, Europe included, and its three packs below cover all 29 Schengen states. Vi prices Europe by zone, so its allowance depends on the country. The five packs below cost ₹998 to ₹4,695 as listed on 12 Oct 2026.
| Pack | Price | Data · days | Minutes | ≈ ₹ per GB | Schengen |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Airtel prepaid | ₹998 | 4 GB · 5 | 150 | about ₹250 | 29 of 29 |
| Airtel prepaid | ₹1,298 | 6 GB · 10 | 200 | about ₹216 | 29 of 29 |
| Airtel prepaid | ₹2,998 | 10 GB · 30 | 300 | about ₹300 | 29 of 29 |
| Vi Budget (Set 1) | ₹1,495 | 2 GB · 15 | 200 | about ₹748 | 26 of 29 (3 at 750 MB) |
| Vi Ultra | ₹4,695 | FREE in UL, 3 GB elsewhere · 10 | FREE in UL, 300 elsewhere | no GB cap in UL | 20 UL, 9 at 3 GB |
Airtel’s own FAQ page still shows older prices (₹898 for 5 days, ₹1,198 for 10 days); its T&C dated 24 Sep 2026 list ₹998 and ₹1,298. Airtel prepaid validity starts when your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage. Details: Airtel and Vi.
Switzerland, Slovenia and the micro-states: check before you go
Nine Schengen states sit outside Vi’s UL zone: Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Slovenia and Switzerland. Jio’s 100-country packs omit Slovenia. San Marino is on none of the three operators’ lists.
On a France, Switzerland and Italy route, Vi’s Ultra pack gives its FREE data in France and Italy but only 3 GB in Switzerland; Jio and
Airtel list all three. Vi’s ₹1,495 Budget pack gives Estonia, Liechtenstein and Lithuania 750 MB instead of 2 GB. Monaco is only in Airtel’s list and Vatican City only in Vi’s; Andorra is in Jio’s and Airtel’s lists, not Vi’s. Our Europe plan lists none of these four micro-states. For a day trip to Monaco, Vatican City or Andorra, the operator pack that lists it is the better choice; for San Marino, plan on Wi-Fi. All three operators list the UK, which is not a Schengen state; for a UK-only stay see our United Kingdom guide.
Cost per GB for a 10-day and a 3-week trip
On a 10-day trip, Jio’s ₹951 pack costs about ₹95 a day and
Airtel’s ₹1,298 pack about ₹130; Airtel’s extra 2 GB costs ₹347, about ₹174 per GB. Our planning estimate is 0.3 GB a day for maps and messaging (3 GB over 10 days) and 0.8 GB with social media (8 GB), which Jio’s ₹1,551 pack fits.
On a 3-week trip, pack validity leaves only the 30-day packs. Jio’s ₹2,851 pack costs about ₹136 a day over 21 days; Airtel’s ₹2,998 pack about ₹143, for 2 GB less. The World Pack at ₹2,899 adds Slovenia for ₹48 more but carries 7 GB less. At 0.8 GB a day, 21 days need about 17 GB; among the packs in our tables, only Jio’s ₹3,999 pack covers that.
10 GB over 30 days costs ≈ ₹1,819 (12 Oct rate), about ₹182 (US$1.90) per GB, charged US$18.99 by card; 20 GB over 30 days costs ≈ ₹2,872 (12 Oct rate). Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee. How card payments work.
Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
A data-only eSIM cannot receive the bank OTPs sent to your Indian number. Keep your Indian SIM in the phone with its data off; the OTP guide has the dual-SIM settings.
How we checked these prices
Every pack figure comes from the operator’s own document, read on 12 Oct 2026 (IST); the departures figure comes from the Ministry of Tourism’s compendium. The Schengen column is our count against each published country list; Vi’s list is an image we transcribed by hand, so confirm your country in the Vi app.
eSIM Go is not affiliated with Jio,
Airtel, Vi or BSNL. Pack details are taken from their own pages on the date shown.
