Short answer: which Indian packs cover Hong Kong

For a short stay, Airtel’s ₹998 prepaid pack gives 4 GB over 5 days, about ₹250 per GB. For two weeks, Jio’s ₹1,551 pack gives 8 GB, about ₹194 per GB. Vi’s ₹3,495 Ultra pack prints its Hong Kong data as FREE. Prices as listed on 13 Oct 2026.

Which Indian SIM works in Hong Kong? Jio, Airtel and Vi all list it and work once roaming is on; the pack decides the data, and only a pack brings minutes on your Indian number. A Hong Kong eSIM from India covers data only. Ours runs on Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT) 5G, and its days start at the first connection in Hong Kong.

Jio international roaming plans for Hong Kong: one list covers Macao and the mainland

Hong Kong and Macao both sit on Jio’s 100-country, 75-country and World Pack lists and on the data-pack list, so the Jio Hong Kong pack is a choice of validity, not of zone. The rows below are a selection, and Jio sells the same packs to prepaid and postpaid customers. One row carries a regional name: ₹2,851 “East Asia, Europe and US”, 12 GB over 30 days.

Airtel and Vi packs for Hong Kong: FREE data on Vi Ultra, unlike mainland China (table)

Airtel’s prepaid set is identical for every country, so the Airtel IR pack Hong Kong visitors buy is the standard one; it can be booked up to 30 days before travel, and if you do not travel within 30 days it expires with no reimbursement. Vi’s terms depend on the zone: Hong Kong and Macao are in its prepaid UL zone and Budget Set 1, but mainland China is non-UL.

Vi’s postpaid table lists Hong Kong and Macao in Set 1, where Vi prints data as FREE, and mainland China in Set 2; we could not confirm that this country table is current. Vi’s prepaid T&C say IR packs are “not applicable for customers in J&K, Assam and North East”. Airtel’s FAQ page still shows older prices; the T&C dated 24 Sep 2026 list ₹998 and ₹1,298.

Hong Kong with Shenzhen or Macao: which pack or plan crosses the border

Jio’s and Airtel’s lists name Hong Kong, Macao and mainland China, so one pack crosses both borders. Vi’s pack changes terms at Shenzhen: the ₹3,495 Ultra pack prints data as FREE in Hong Kong and Macao and gives 2 GB on the mainland. Our side splits differently. The China plan leaves out Hong Kong and Macao; the Hong Kong plan is a Hong Kong plan. Cost per GB for a 4-day and a 7-day Hong Kong trip

Short stays reorder the table. The test, in words: each operator’s shortest pack covering every day, ranked by price per GB, minus Vi’s FREE-data rows. Figures are our division of price by data, from prices listed on 13 Oct 2026.

Four days: Airtel’s ₹998 pack lasts five and ranks first at about ₹250 per GB. Jio’s shortest fit is the ₹599 data pack (7 days, no calls), about ₹599 per GB. Vi’s 4-day ₹2,695 pack comes third at about ₹674 per GB. For a 3- or 5-day stay, the matching rows on our side are the 3- and 5-day unlimited plans, 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.

Seven days: Airtel’s ₹1,298 pack ranks first at about ₹216 per GB, ₹185 a day. Jio’s shortest fit is again the ₹599 data pack, about ₹599 per GB; with calls, its 10-day ₹951 pack is about ₹238. Vi’s Budget ₹995 pack runs about ₹796 per GB; its 7-day Ultra is left out because Vi prints that data as FREE.

Our Hong Kong plans carry data only. On 12 Oct 2026 the catalogue priced 3 unlimited days at ≈ ₹1,190 (13 Oct rate) and 5 unlimited days at ≈ ₹1,809 (13 Oct rate), both slowing to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day, and 1 GB over 7 days at ≈ ₹285 (13 Oct rate). The 5-day row is charged US$18.99 by card. Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee. How card payments work. Divide the ≈ ₹ price by GB, or by days for the unlimited rows, when you buy.

If your bank texts OTPs, the Indian SIM has to stay in the phone, because our eSIM carries no number. Keep the Indian number on the second line with mobile data off; SMS roaming in Hong Kong is for your operator to confirm, and no one can promise delivery. The OTP guide walks through it.
