Short answer: Airtel has no Vietnam pack, only its all-country set

Airtel international roaming in Vietnam runs on its ₹998 prepaid pack (4 GB, 5 days) or ₹1,298 prepaid pack (6 GB, 10 days), which work in every country Airtel covers. Jio and Vi list Vietnam in multi-country packs. A pack keeps calls on your Indian number; a travel eSIM adds data only. Prices checked 12 Oct 2026.

Indian departures to Vietnam rose 56%, from 398,673 in 2024 to 622,237 in 2025 (Ministry of Tourism data; the percentage is our calculation). Vietnam’s tourism authority counts about 746,000 arrivals from India in 2025, by a different method.

Jio packs that cover Vietnam

There is no Jio Vietnam pack. Vietnam is on the country lists of Jio’s 100-country and 75-country voice and data packs, its World Pack and its data packs. The three packs below cost ₹599 to ₹1,551 as listed on 12 Oct 2026. The ₹599 pack is data-only, with no calls.

Pack validity starts at different moments. Jio states: “Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data.” Airtel prepaid validity starts when your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage. More detail is on the Jio roaming page.

Airtel and Vi packs for Vietnam (table)

The five prepaid packs below cost ₹995 to ₹5,195 as listed on 12 Oct 2026. Vietnam is in Vi’s UL zone and its Budget Set 1 zone, not in the non-UL zone or Budget Set 2. Airtel uses one pack set for every country. The ≈ ₹ per GB column is our derivation (price ÷ GB).

Airtel also sells a ₹698 one-day prepaid pack (1 GB) and a ₹2,998 30-day prepaid pack (10 GB). Airtel’s own FAQ page still shows older prices; the current T&C list ₹998 and ₹1,298. Postpaid packs on both networks are priced differently. Vi states that IR packs are “not applicable for customers in J&K, Assam and North East”. More on the Airtel and Vi pages.

Cost per GB for a 7-day and a 14-day trip

For a week, Jio’s ₹951 pack is the cheapest one with calls that lasts the trip: 4 GB, about ₹136 a day. Airtel needs its ₹1,298 pack, about ₹185 a day. For 14 days, Jio’s ₹1,551 pack costs about ₹111 a day. Every per-day figure here is our derivation (price ÷ trip days).

On a 7-day trip, Jio’s cheapest option is the ₹599 data pack: 1 GB and no calls. Airtel’s ₹998 pack lasts only 5 days, so the week needs the ₹1,298 pack. It costs ₹347 more than Jio’s ₹951 for 2 GB more, about ₹174 for each extra GB. Vi’s Ultra ₹3,495 pack costs about ₹499 a day and is the only one with no data cap.

On a 14-day trip, Airtel has no 14-day prepaid pack, so its ₹2,998 30-day pack gives 10 GB at about ₹214 a day. Vi’s Ultra ₹5,195 pack costs about ₹371 a day. Jio’s ₹1,551 pack is the lowest of the three 14-day figures.

The operator pack is the better choice when you need calls on your Indian number, or when you are on Vi prepaid and want no data cap for a week.

We read each figure on 12 Oct 2026 (IST) in the operator’s own document. For Jio that is its plan list; for Airtel, the T&C dated 24 Sep 2026; for Vi, its prepaid T&C. The ≈ ₹ per GB column is price ÷ GB, rounded to the nearest rupee. Per-day figures are price ÷ trip days.
