Jio, Airtel & Vi roaming in Kazakhstan vs a travel eSIM
Jio,
Airtel and Vi each sell packs that list Kazakhstan, but they stop at different borders: Vi’s prepaid packs and Jio’s 100- and 75-country packs leave out Kyrgyzstan. The 19 packs in our tables cost ₹589 to ₹5,195 (about ₹194–₹3,980 per GB where the data is capped), checked 19 Oct 2026.
Short answer: which Indian packs cover Kazakhstan
All three operators sell one. For a week or ten days, Airtel’s ₹1,298 pack gives 6 GB and 200 minutes over 10 days, about ₹216 per GB. Jio’s ₹951 pack gives 4 GB over 10 days, about ₹238 per GB. Vi’s 7-day Ultra costs ₹3,495 for 2 GB. Prices as listed on 19 Oct 2026.
Which Indian SIM works in Kazakhstan? Jio,
Airtel and Vi SIMs work once international roaming is on, but mobile data needs a pack. A Kazakhstan eSIM from India carries data only, on KCELL (5G) and Tele 2 (3G). Install the eSIM in India; it connects when you land abroad. India’s Ministry of Tourism counts 90,347 departures to Kazakhstan in 2025, about 3% fewer than the 92,727 of 2024 (our calculation).
We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.

Airtel, Vi or BSNL. Pack details are taken from their own pages on the date shown.

Despite its name, Jio’s file puts the ₹2,851 pack in the 100-country zone, which lists Kazakhstan; confirm it in MyJio. On pack validity, Jio states: “Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data.”

Airtel and Vi packs for Kazakhstan: Vi’s Budget Set 2 (table)
The
Airtel IR pack Kazakhstan travellers buy is Airtel’s one prepaid set for every covered country. Vi roaming Kazakhstan rows come from two prepaid lists: the non-UL zone, where Ultra packs carry 2 to 5 GB, and Budget Set 2, whose data is smaller than Set 1’s.
| Pack | Days | Data | Minutes | Price | ≈ ₹ per GB (our division) |

Vi’s postpaid table lists Kazakhstan in Set 2, where ₹3,999 for 10 days gives 14 GB; we could not confirm that this country table is current. BSNL lists Kazakhstan as a prepaid and postpaid partner network, and a partner network is not a pack. Airtel’s FAQ page still shows older prices; its T&C list ₹998 and ₹1,298. Vi’s IR packs are “not applicable for customers in J&K, Assam and North East”.
Almaty with Bishkek or Tashkent: where Vi prepaid stops
A Central Asian loop changes pack terms at the borders. Vi’s prepaid T&C list no pack for Kyrgyzstan; its postpaid table lists it in Set 2, and we could not confirm that this table is current. Jio’s 100- and 75-country packs skip Kyrgyzstan too; of its packs with data, only the World Pack and the data packs list all three countries, as does Airtel’s one list.
| Operator | Kazakhstan | Kyrgyzstan | Uzbekistan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jio | all four lists with data | World Pack and data packs | all four lists with data |
| Airtel | single list | single list | single list |
| Vi prepaid | non-UL, Budget Set 2 | no pack | non-UL, Budget Set 2 |
| Vi postpaid | Set 2 | Set 2 | Set 2 |
| BSNL | prepaid and postpaid partner | postpaid partner | prepaid and postpaid partner |
So no Vi prepaid pack bought for Almaty lists the Bishkek leg.
We sell country plans for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Our Global plan lists all three on fixed-GB rows; keep a Global line switched off until you land abroad, and on Android enter its access point name by hand (APN guide). Our Europe plan does not list Kazakhstan.
Cost per GB for a 7-day and a 10-day Kazakhstan trip
The test: for each operator, take the shortest pack that lasts the whole trip and rank by price per GB, our division of price by data, leaving out Vi’s “FREE”-data rows. Vi prints none for Kazakhstan, so every row here has a per-GB figure.
Seven days: Airtel’s shortest fit is the 10-day ₹1,298 pack, about ₹216 per GB. Jio’s is the 7-day ₹599 data pack, about ₹599 with no calls; with calls, the 10-day ₹951 pack, about ₹238. Vi’s 7-day Ultra comes to about ₹1,748.
Ten days: Airtel’s ₹1,298 fits exactly, then Jio’s ₹951 and Vi’s 10-day Ultra (3 GB, about ₹1,565). Both trips rank
Airtel, Jio, Vi.
Our Kazakhstan plans are data-only. Today 1 GB over 7 days costs ₹329, 5 GB over 30 days ₹969 and 10 GB over 30 days ₹1,499, about ₹150 per GB. The 7-day unlimited plan costs ₹2,549 and slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day. The Global plan’s 5 GB row for 30 days costs ₹2,599. Your card is charged exactly the ₹ amount shown at checkout, in rupees; we don’t convert currency. Because the seller is registered outside India, some banks treat a rupee payment as international and may add a fee; check your card’s terms. How card payments work.
At 0.8 GB a day, our medium-use profile, ten days take about 8 GB: past Airtel’s 6 GB, within Jio’s ₹1,551 pack or our 10 GB row (our calculation). A pack adds minutes on your Indian number; our plans have none. Plan days start at the first connection to a Kazakh network. All plans are on the Kazakhstan eSIM page. The Kazakhstan SIM card guide covers a local SIM after landing, and a physical Kazakhstan SIM card from a local operator needs a free slot.
Bank OTPs arrive as SMS on your Indian number, which a data-only eSIM cannot receive. Keep the Indian SIM in as a second line with mobile data off; no page can promise delivery. The guide to keep Indian number for OTP shows the settings.
Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
How we checked these prices
Each row shows its checked on date, the day we read the operator’s own document. For Jio international roaming plans for Kazakhstan, that is the plan list and four country lists; for
Airtel and Vi, their T&C (Airtel’s dated 24 Sep 2026). Vi’s international roaming Kazakhstan zones are an image we copied by hand, so confirm them in the Vi app. Jio’s pack text and its data-pack list disagree, so we quote no country count. Side by side: Jio vs Airtel vs Vi.
