Kyrgyzstan eSIM or local SIM: what Indian travellers need
A Kyrgyzstan trip through Bishkek, Issyk-Kul and the mountain roads needs mobile data for offline maps, messaging and booking apps. A data eSIM supplies it from landing, and your Indian SIM stays in the phone for OTPs. A Kyrgyzstan tourist SIM bought as a local SIM on arrival is worth it only for a local number. No plan is the best eSIM for Kyrgyzstan on every trip. For the rest of a Central Asia route, see our country-by-country SIM guides.
| Option | Price | What you need | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack | ₹599 to ₹5,899 a pack from about ₹216 per GB | Roaming switched on and a pack bought before you fly | Costs more per GB than the eSIM |
| Pocket Wi-Fi router | Not verified | Collect it, keep it charged and return it | One connection for the group, only while you stay together |
| Local SIM bought on arrival | Not verified | A free SIM slot and a shop after landing | On a one-slot phone it replaces your Indian SIM and its OTPs |
| Travel eSIM from this site | from ≈ ₹380 US$3.99 by card; from ≈ ₹138 per GB | An eSIM phone that is not locked to one operator | Data only: no calls or SMS on your Indian number |
Pack prices as listed by Jio, Airtel and Vi on 13 Oct 2026; ₹ per GB is our derivation (price ÷ GB). eSIM prices are an estimate at the day’s rate; your card is charged in US$.
A physical Kyrgyzstan SIM card from a local operator needs a free slot, and on a single-slot phone it replaces the Indian SIM. We quote no Kyrgyzstan SIM card price in som because we have not verified current rates. India’s Ministry of Tourism counted 22,267 departures of Indian nationals to Kyrgyzstan in 2025.
Of the local networks, our Kyrgyzstan plans run on Beeline, on 4G, with data only and no calls or SMS. The catalogue has six fixed-data plans (1 to 20 GB) and six unlimited data plans of 3 to 30 days; unlimited speed drops to 1 Mbps after 3 GB in a day. Hotspot / tethering use draws on the same data allowance; our plan details do not state a hotspot rule. We hold no coverage data for the high passes, so ask us before you rely on mobile data on a mountain road.

Jio and Airtel packs in Kyrgyzstan, and why Vi prepaid has none
Kyrgyzstan is in Jio’s World Pack and data-pack lists, not in the 100-country or 75-country packs, and the
Airtel set covers it. Four rows below cost ₹998 to ₹2,998 as listed on 13 Oct 2026. Vi is absent from the table for a reason given below.
We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.
| Pack | Price | Data · days | Calls · SMS | ≈ ₹ per GB |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jio World Pack | ₹1,499 | 2 GB · 14 days | 100 min + incoming · 100 SMS | about ₹750 |
| Jio World Pack | ₹2,899 | 5 GB · 30 days | 100 min out + 100 in · 100 SMS | about ₹580 |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 5 days | ₹998 | 4 GB · 5 days | 150 min · 20 SMS | about ₹250 |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 30 days | ₹2,998 | 10 GB · 30 days | 300 min · 20 SMS | about ₹300 |

Every row links to the operator’s document as read on 13 Oct 2026; ₹ per GB is our own division of price by data. Validity starts differently by operator. Jio states: “Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data.” Airtel’s T&C carry the date 24 Sep 2026, and its FAQ page still shows older prices.
Vi’s prepaid T&C name Kyrgyzstan in none of their zone lists: not the unlimited zone, the non-UL zone, Budget Set 1, Budget Set 2, the Haj pack or the South Asia pack. Vi’s standard roaming rates are not in the documents we read; check yours in the Vi app. Its postpaid table lists Kyrgyzstan in Set 2, and we could not confirm that this table is current. For a Vi prepaid holder the practical choice is an eSIM or a local SIM.

A week in Kyrgyzstan: roaming pack vs eSIM
5.6 GB for 7 days (0.8 GB a day, social media and photos): the cheapest prepaid way to get it.
Operator packs also carry calls and SMS on your Indian number; the eSIM is data only. Packs at the operator’s ₹ price, as listed on 13 Oct 2026; the eSIM at the market rate of 13 Oct, charged in US$. Work out your own trip.
Long stays: 30-day packs vs 30-day plans, sized at purchase
The catalogue marks the unlimited Kyrgyzstan plans as not rechargeable, and this page promises no top-up for any Kyrgyzstan plan. Pick the size when you buy. A month at 0.3 GB a day is about 9 GB (our calculation, profiles from the data guide), which fits the 10 GB plan; the 20 GB plan at ≈ ₹2,762 (13 Oct rate) gives twice the data for a little more. At 0.8 GB a day a month is about 24 GB, more than the 20 GB maximum.
On 13 Oct 2026, our 5 GB plan for 30 days cost ≈ ₹904 (13 Oct rate), charged US$9.49 by card, less than Jio’s ₹2,899 for the same 5 GB, though Jio’s World Pack adds 100 minutes each way. Our 10 GB plan at ≈ ₹2,381 (13 Oct rate) cost less than
Airtel’s ₹2,998 for 10 GB, though Airtel adds 300 minutes on your Indian number. Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee. The ≈ ₹ price (charged in USD) is an estimate at the day’s rate.
The 15-day 2 GB plan at ≈ ₹809 (13 Oct rate) is the odd row. The 30-day 3 GB plan at ≈ ₹857 (13 Oct rate) and the 5 GB plan at ≈ ₹904 (13 Oct rate) give more days and more data for slightly more, so for a trip of 8 to 15 days buy a 30-day row. For heavy use, the 30-day unlimited plan costs ≈ ₹6,907 (13 Oct rate), charged US$72.49.
Kyrgyzstan with Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan: country plans or the Global plan
Our Global plan lists Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and so does no other multi-country plan we sell. On 14 Oct 2026, two 5 GB country plans, Kyrgyzstan at ≈ ₹904 (13 Oct rate) and Kazakhstan at ≈ ₹952 (13 Oct rate), together cost about 28% less than one Global 5 GB row at ≈ ₹2,572 (13 Oct rate), and they give 10 GB in all against 5 GB to share.
Add Uzbekistan at ≈ ₹1,047 (13 Oct rate) and the order flips. Three country plans then cost about 13% more than the one Global row, for 15 GB in all against 5 GB. Split plans cost two or three installs and separate balances. Keep the Global line switched off until you land abroad. See the Kazakhstan guide, the Uzbekistan guide and the Global plan.
Setting up the Kyrgyzstan eSIM before you fly
Install the eSIM in India; it connects when you land in Kyrgyzstan. Check that your model appears on the eSIM phone list, buy the plan on the Kyrgyzstan eSIM page and do the QR code install at home over Wi-Fi. Our data plan validity starts at the first connection to a Kyrgyz network. In Bishkek or wherever you land, switch on data roaming for the eSIM line only.
No access point name needs typing: the Kyrgyzstan plans set it automatically on iPhone and Android alike. Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
Bank OTPs and your Indian number in Kyrgyzstan
OTPs from your bank go by SMS to the Indian number, and the Kyrgyzstan eSIM has no SMS. Leave the Indian SIM in the phone as a second line with its own mobile data off. Whether texts reach it in Kyrgyzstan depends on your operator and plan, so ask before you go; no page can promise that every OTP will arrive.
For
Airtel prepaid users, the ₹118 IR activation runs 28 days at standard rates, “allows unlimited incoming SMS” and needs an active base pack. Vi’s prepaid T&C list no Kyrgyzstan zone, so this page does not count on Vi’s ₹118 incoming-SMS pack there; check it in the Vi app. Jio users should check the MyJio app. The OTP guide explains the dual-SIM settings.
Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee. How card payments work.

Check before you fly
What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in Kyrgyzstan?
Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.
The first is the line for mobile data. On iPhone it is Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data; on Android, the SIM manager. Pick the travel line there; your Indian line stays on for calls and SMS, with its mobile data off.
The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats Kyrgyzstan as roaming for it.
The third is the APN. On this plan it sets itself, so leave it alone; you don’t need to type one.
The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch airplane mode on and off, and let it find Beeline; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.
Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimgo.in with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)
For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, ≈ ₹380 (US$3.99). For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, ≈ ₹904 (US$9.49). If you video-call and stream every day, take the unlimited plan for 7 days, ≈ ₹2,619 (US$27.49), with 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.
I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If you need calls or SMS on your Indian number every day, a Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack carries them (compare the packs). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.
FAQ
Will my Vi SIM work in Kyrgyzstan?
Vi’s prepaid T&C list no pack for Kyrgyzstan, so a Vi prepaid SIM has no pack to buy there. Vi’s standard roaming rates for Kyrgyzstan are not in the documents we read; check them in the Vi app. Vi’s postpaid table lists Kyrgyzstan in Set 2, and we could not confirm that this table is current.
Does Jio international roaming cover Kyrgyzstan?
Yes. Jio’s World Pack and data packs list Kyrgyzstan; its 100-country and 75-country packs do not. The World Pack costs ₹1,499 for 2 GB over 14 days or ₹2,899 for 5 GB over 30 days (13 Oct 2026).
When do the days on a Kyrgyzstan eSIM start?
They start with the first connection to a network in Kyrgyzstan. Installing the eSIM at home leaves the days untouched.
Can I get OTPs and use WhatsApp with a Kyrgyzstan eSIM?
WhatsApp messages go over the eSIM’s data. OTPs reach your Indian number by SMS, which this data-only eSIM cannot receive, so keep the Indian SIM active in the phone.
Is one eSIM enough for Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan?
Yes with the Global plan, which lists both countries. On 13 Oct 2026 two 5 GB country plans together gave more data for less money than one Global 5 GB row, at the cost of two installs.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Our eSIM phone list shows whether your exact model takes an eSIM; a model not listed should be treated as no.
