Jio, Airtel & Vi roaming in Switzerland vs a travel eSIM
Switzerland is the one stop on a France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland tour where Vi’s prepaid Ultra pack stops being unlimited, while Jio international roaming plans for Switzerland match those for its neighbours. Vi prints data as FREE in the other three; in Switzerland, ₹3,495 buys 2 GB for 7 days. All 16 rows below are dated and linked.
Short answer: Switzerland is where Vi’s Ultra stops being unlimited
Which Indian SIM works in Switzerland? Jio,
Airtel and Vi SIMs all do once roaming is on. With Jio or Airtel, one pack lists all four countries. A week fits Airtel’s ₹1,298 pack (6 GB over 10 days, about ₹216 per GB); two weeks fit Jio’s ₹1,551 (8 GB, about ₹194). Vi prepaid is the exception. Prices as listed on 13 Oct 2026.
A Switzerland eSIM from India carries data only, so calls on your Indian number stay with a pack. Install the eSIM in India; it connects when you land abroad.
India’s Ministry of Tourism counts 162,068 departures to Switzerland in 2025, about 5% more than the 154,822 of 2024 (our calculation); 84.22% were for leisure or business.
We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.
Jio international roaming plans that cover Switzerland
The Jio international roaming plans for Switzerland come from four lists: the 100-country pack, the World Pack, the 75-country pack and the data packs. There is no separate Jio Switzerland pack. The seven Jio rows at the top of the next table are a selection; only the two data packs have no minutes. Jio sells the same packs to prepaid and postpaid customers.
eSIM Go is not affiliated with Jio,
Airtel, Vi or BSNL. Pack details are taken from their own pages on the date shown.
On pack validity, Jio states: “Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data.”

Airtel and Vi packs for Switzerland (table)
The
Airtel IR pack Switzerland-bound travellers buy is Airtel’s one set for every covered country, priced in the T&C dated 24 Sep 2026. Vi roaming Switzerland rows come from the non-UL zone for Ultra and from Budget Set 1. The 7 d and 14 d columns mark whether a pack lasts that trip.

Vi’s postpaid table lists Switzerland in Set 2, not in Set 1 with France, Italy and Austria, where data is printed as FREE. In Set 2, ₹3,999 for 10 days gives 14 GB and ₹4,999 for 14 days gives 21 GB, about ₹286 and ₹238 per GB; we could not confirm that this country table is current. Vi’s IR packs are “not applicable for customers in J&K, Assam and North East”, in Vi’s words. Airtel’s FAQ page still shows older prices; the T&C dated 24 Sep 2026 list ₹998 and ₹1,298.
A Europe tour with Switzerland: one pack or plan for France, Italy and the Alps
The operators’ own country lists, one column per stop of a typical tour:
| Operator list | France | Italy | Austria | Switzerland |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jio 100-country, World Pack, 75-country, data packs | listed | listed | listed | listed |
| Airtel single set | listed | listed | listed | listed |
| Vi prepaid Ultra and iRoamFree | UL zone | UL zone | UL zone | non-UL zone |
| Vi prepaid Budget | Set 1 | Set 1 | Set 1 | Set 1 |
| Vi postpaid | Set 1 | Set 1 | Set 1 | Set 2 |
On Jio or
Airtel, one pack covers the route; choose by days and GB. On Vi prepaid, Ultra ₹3,495 gives data printed as FREE in three countries and 2 GB in the fourth; how one pack is counted across the two zones is not in Vi’s terms, so ask Vi. In a group, a Jio or Airtel traveller can keep a pack while a Vi traveller takes an eSIM for the Alps.
Our Switzerland plans run on Sunrise 4G, data only: six fixed-data plans and six unlimited ones that slow to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day. Our Europe plan lists Switzerland, France, Italy and Austria, with fixed-data rows only; on Android it needs its APN entered by hand, while the Switzerland plans set it automatically. We promise no signal on a given mountain pass or peak.
Cost per GB for a 7-day and a 14-day trip
How we rank: each operator’s shortest pack that lasts the whole trip, sorted by price per GB (our division of price by data), with Vi’s FREE-data rows set aside; Vi prepaid has none for Switzerland.
Seven days:
Airtel’s ₹1,298 pack comes first, about ₹216 per GB. Jio’s shortest fit with calls is ₹951 for 10 days (about ₹238); its ₹599 data pack lasts exactly 7 days, at about ₹599 and without calls. Vi’s 7-day Ultra is about ₹1,748.
Fourteen days: Jio’s ₹1,551 pack comes first, about ₹194 per GB. Airtel has no 14-day prepaid pack, so ₹2,998 for 30 days is its shortest fit, about ₹300. Vi’s Ultra ₹5,195 is about ₹1,039: the same row that shows FREE data in France.
From our catalogue on 12 Oct 2026: the Switzerland plan for 1 GB over 7 days costs ≈ ₹285 (13 Oct rate). Its 5 GB plan, nearest to Airtel’s 6 GB, costs ≈ ₹666 (13 Oct rate), about ₹133 (US$1.40) per GB, charged US$6.99 by card. Nearest to Jio’s 8 GB, the 10 GB row costs ≈ ₹1,762 (13 Oct rate), and 20 GB only a little more: ≈ ₹2,095 (13 Oct rate). The Europe plan for the whole tour costs ≈ ₹1,142 (13 Oct rate) for 5 GB and ≈ ₹1,809 (13 Oct rate) for 10 GB. On 12 Oct 2026 the two 10 GB rows cost about the same; the Swiss 5 GB row cost less than Europe’s, at the price of a second install. Packs bring minutes on your Indian number; our plans bring none. Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee. How card payments work.
Plan days start at the first connection to a network in a covered country. See the Switzerland eSIM page, the Switzerland SIM card guide for a local SIM after landing, Europe roaming, the Europe eSIM page and the Austria SIM card guide.
Bank OTPs go by SMS to your Indian number, which a data-only eSIM cannot receive: keep the Indian SIM in as a second line with data off, and check with your operator that texts reach you in Switzerland. The settings are in the guide to keep Indian number for OTP.
Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
How we checked these prices
Each row carries its checked on date, the day we read the operator’s own document. For international roaming Switzerland coverage: Jio’s plan list and four country lists,
Airtel’s T&C PDF dated 24 Sep 2026, Vi’s prepaid and postpaid T&C PDFs. Vi’s prepaid zone lists are an image we copied by hand, so confirm Switzerland in the Vi app. See also Jio vs Airtel vs Vi.

FAQ
Will my Jio, Airtel or Vi SIM work in Switzerland?
Yes, once international roaming is on, but data needs a pack:
Airtel bars prepaid data abroad without one, and Vi keeps mobile data off. On Vi prepaid, Switzerland is the stop on a France, Italy and Austria route where Ultra data is capped.
How much is the Airtel IR pack for Switzerland?
The same as in France or Italy: Airtel’s prepaid set is one list for every covered country. A week fits ₹1,298 (6 GB, 10 days) and two weeks ₹2,998 (10 GB, 30 days), per the T&C dated 24 Sep 2026.
Which Jio international roaming plan covers Switzerland?
Switzerland is on Jio’s 100-country, World Pack, 75-country and data-pack lists. With calls, ₹951 buys 4 GB for 10 days and ₹1,551 buys 8 GB for 14 days; the ₹599 data pack gives 1 GB over 7 days and no calls.
Is a travel eSIM cheaper than roaming in Switzerland?
On a Europe tour the answer turns on your operator. Airtel’s week pack at ₹1,298 works out at about ₹216 per GB and Jio’s two-week ₹1,551 at about ₹194, minutes included, while Vi prepaid’s Swiss rows run far higher. Our plans carry data only, billed in US dollars.
Can I get bank OTPs on my Indian number in Switzerland while using an eSIM?
Only through the Indian SIM, and no page can promise delivery. A data-only eSIM gets no SMS meant for your Indian number, so keep that line active with mobile data off and confirm with your operator that SMS works in Switzerland.
