Jio, Airtel & Vi roaming in Germany vs a travel eSIM

Jio international roaming Germany comes only in multi-country packs, and Jio’s ₹1,102 “plan” is a balance, not data. The 14 packs in our tables cost ₹599 to ₹14,999 (about ₹194–₹933 per GB where the data is capped), checked 19 Oct 2026.

Short answer: which Indian packs cover Germany

Lowest per GB in our tables: Jio’s ₹1,551 pack, 8 GB over 14 days, about ₹194. For a week, Airtel’s ₹1,298 prepaid pack (6 GB, 10 days) is the lowest capped pack at about ₹216. Vi’s ₹3,495 Ultra prints Germany’s data as FREE for 7 days, with calls included, per Vi.

Which Indian SIM works in Germany? A Jio, or Vi SIM works once international roaming is on, but for mobile data, plan on a roaming pack: without one, Airtel bars prepaid data abroad and Vi keeps mobile data off. Our Germany eSIM from India carries data only.

India’s Ministry of Tourism counts 458,819 departures to Germany in 2025, about 9% more than 2024’s 421,457 (our calculation); 50.91% were for leisure or business. In Europe, only the UK counts more.

We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.

Jio international roaming Germany: the packs, Jio’s Germany page and the ₹1,102 Global Pack

There is no Jio Germany pack as such. Germany sits on Jio’s 100-country, World Pack, 75-country and data-pack lists, and on the Global Pack balance list. Jio’s Germany page shows 16 packs with data and two Global Pack balances (our count); the five rows below are a selection.

Jio’s Germany page, read on 21 Oct 2026, opens: “Travel to Germany with Jio’s International Roaming plans”. Its prices, validity and data match the plan list. Its minutes print as one figure (“Voice 300 mins” for ₹2,851), where the plan list prints 150 out and 150 in; the table follows the plan list. On pack validity, Jio states: “Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data.”

Jio sells the same packs to prepaid and postpaid customers. eSIM Go is not affiliated with Jio, , Vi or BSNL. Pack details are taken from their own pages on the date shown.

What Jio’s ₹1,102 plan is

It is the Global Pack: 28 days and a ₹933.90 balance plus 5 ISD SMS, spent at standard roaming rates. Jio’s Germany page files it under “Global Packs with Wi-Fi Calling”; its ₹1,101 twin, filed “without Wi-Fi Calling”, carries ₹933.05. For Germany, the page prints ₹5 a minute for local, India and incoming calls, ₹5 an SMS and ₹0.05 per 10 KB of data. Spent on data alone, ₹933.90 buys about 187 MB (our division, 1 MB as 1,000 KB); the ₹951 pack costs ₹151 less and gives 4 GB. The ₹499 plan searchers ask about is not in the pack list we read on 2 Nov 2026.

Airtel and Vi packs for Germany, and Vi’s FREE-data Ultra week (table)

sells one prepaid set for every covered country, so the Airtel IR pack Germany travellers buy comes from that set, which includes ₹998, ₹1,298 and ₹2,998. Vi roaming Germany follows its zones: Germany is in the UL zone and Budget Set 1, and Vi prints Ultra data there as FREE at ₹3,495 (7 days), ₹4,695 (10) and ₹5,195 (14).

Airtel’s prepaid packs are booked up to 30 days before travel; if you do not travel within 30 days, the pack expires with no reimbursement.

Vi’s postpaid table lists Germany in Set 1, where ₹3,649 for 7 days prints data as FREE; we could not confirm that this country table is current. BSNL lists Germany as a prepaid and postpaid partner network, which is not a pack. Vi’s prepaid T&C say IR packs are “not applicable for customers in J&K, Assam and North East”. Airtel’s FAQ page still shows older prices than its T&C dated 24 Sep 2026.

Adding Switzerland? Vi lists it as non-UL, so the ₹3,495 Ultra week gives 2 GB and 200 minutes there. One Ultra pack then carries two sets of terms; how Vi counts it across both is not in its terms, so ask Vi (Switzerland roaming comparison).

A semester or a long stay: the 365-day packs that list Germany

Three 365-day packs in our table print a data figure for Germany: Jio’s Annual IR gives 3 GB for ₹2,799, Airtel’s prepaid ₹4,999 gives 7 GB, and Airtel’s postpaid ₹14,999 gives 40 GB at high speed.

Jio’s Annual pack costs ₹52 less than its 30-day ₹2,851 pack with 12 GB. It spreads 3 GB over the year: 0.25 GB a month (our division). Airtel’s ₹4,999 pack runs 365 days from the date of purchase, not from landing.

Vi’s annual Budget packs (₹2,997, ₹4,997) list Germany too; we quote no allowance for them, so ask in the Vi app. For the plan side of a semester, see the student eSIM guide.

Cost per GB for a 7-day and a 14-day Germany trip

Verdict test, in words: take each operator’s shortest pack that lasts the whole trip, rank the packs by price per GB, and leave out Vi’s FREE-data rows. The ₹ per GB figures are our division of price by data, from prices listed on 19 Oct 2026.

Seven days: Airtel’s ₹1,298 prepaid pack (10 days) ranks first at about ₹216 per GB. Jio’s 7-day ₹599 data pack comes second at about ₹599, with no calls; with calls, ₹951 for 10 days comes to about ₹238. Vi’s 10-day Budget pack ranks last at about ₹796; its FREE-data Ultra week is left out.

Fourteen days: Jio’s ₹1,551 pack ranks first at about ₹194 per GB. has no 14-day prepaid pack, so its fit is the 30-day ₹2,998 at about ₹300. Vi’s 14-day Ultra is left out (FREE data); its 15-day Budget pack, a day longer, gives 2 GB for ₹1,495, about ₹748.

Where Vi’s pack is the better choice: a heavy week with calls. At 3.0 GB a day, the top profile in our data guide, a week needs about 21 GB (our calculation). On Jio’s Germany page only the ₹5,999 pack holds that much (30 GB, 30 days); Airtel’s prepaid packs stop at 10 GB. Vi’s 7-day Ultra costs ₹3,495, ₹2,504 less than Jio’s, with data printed as FREE and no GB figure.

Our Germany plans run on O2; their days start at the first connection in Germany. Six of the 12 plans are unlimited and slow to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day. Today 10 GB over 30 days costs ₹1,249, about ₹125 per GB. Seven unlimited days (1 Mbps after 3 GB a day) cost ₹1,549. Your card is charged exactly the ₹ amount shown at checkout, in rupees; we don’t convert currency. Because the seller is registered outside India, some banks treat a rupee payment as international and may add a fee; check your card’s terms. How card payments work.

The pack is the better choice when you need calls on your Indian number: every pack in our tables carries minutes except Jio’s ₹599 data pack, and our plans carry none. Android needs the APN typed in by hand, with the value sent with your order (APN guide); on iPhone our catalogue lists no manual APN. Germany plus other countries: Europe eSIM and Europe roaming. A local SIM after landing is covered in the Germany SIM card guide: a physical German SIM card from a local operator needs a free slot.

Bank OTPs go to your Indian number, which a data-only eSIM lacks: keep the Indian SIM in as the second line with mobile data off, and ask your operator whether texts reach you in Germany (guide: keep Indian number for OTP).

Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.

How we checked these prices

Each row carries its checked on date and a link to the operator’s own document. For Jio international roaming Germany we read the plan list, Jio’s Germany page and the five Jio lists that name Germany; Airtel’s covered-countries page and Vi’s UL zone, Budget Set 1 and postpaid Set 1 name it too. Vi publishes its zones as an image, which we transcribed by hand: confirm Germany in the Vi app.

What is Jio’s ₹1,102 international plan?

The Global Pack: 28 days and a ₹933.90 balance plus 5 ISD SMS, spent at standard roaming rates, not a data allowance. At Jio’s Germany rate of ₹0.05 per 10 KB, the balance buys about 187 MB on data alone (our division).
