Finland SIM card for Indian travellers: roaming, local SIM or eSIM
Jio,
Airtel and Vi each sell roaming packs that list Finland, and the five in our table cost ₹951 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026. Vi’s ₹3,495 Ultra pack gives only 2 GB there. A data-only Finland eSIM installed in India starts at ≈ ₹334 (12 Oct rate) for 1 GB over 7 days, charged US$3.49 by card, with no calls or SMS.

Finland eSIM or local SIM: what Indian travellers need
Helsinki trams, train tickets to Lapland and aurora alerts all run on mobile data, so most visitors need data rather than a Finnish number. A data eSIM set up in India works from landing and keeps your Indian SIM in the phone for OTPs. A Finland tourist SIM makes sense only when someone in Finland must ring you locally. Other countries on the route have their own country SIM guides.
| Option | Price | What you need | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack | ₹589 to ₹6,995 a pack from about ₹194 per GB | Roaming switched on and a pack bought before you fly | Costs more per GB than the eSIM |
| Pocket Wi-Fi router | Not verified | Collect it, keep it charged and return it | One connection for the group, only while you stay together |
| Local SIM bought on arrival | Not verified | A free SIM slot and a shop after landing | On a one-slot phone it replaces your Indian SIM and its OTPs |
| Travel eSIM from this site | from ≈ ₹333 US$3.49 by card; from ≈ ₹67 per GB | An eSIM phone that is not locked to one operator | Data only: no calls or SMS on your Indian number |
Pack prices as listed by Jio, Airtel and Vi on 13 Oct 2026; ₹ per GB is our derivation (price ÷ GB). eSIM prices are an estimate at the day’s rate; your card is charged in US$.
On a single-slot phone, a physical Finland SIM card from a local operator pushes out your Indian SIM, and OTPs to that number wait until you swap back. We quote no Finland SIM card price because we have not verified current rates, and no plan is the best eSIM for Finland on every trip.
Is there one SIM for all of Finland? Our Finland plans are country plans on a single host network, which the Finland page lists as DNA, on 5G; we promise no signal in any given spot. There are twelve sizes: 1 GB for 7 days, 2 GB for 15 days, 3, 5, 10 or 20 GB for 30 days, and unlimited data for 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 or 30 days. Past 3 GB in a day, the unlimited plans run at 1 Mbps. Hotspot / tethering use draws on the same data allowance; our plan details do not state a hotspot rule.
eSIM for Finland: most chosen plans
Charged US$3.49 by card. Your bank converts the US$ charge at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee — how card payment works.
What it costs per day

Your Jio, Airtel or Vi pack in Finland vs this eSIM
All five packs in our table bundle minutes on your Indian number, which our data-only eSIM does not. The Jio and
Airtel rows work in Finland as they do across most of Europe; the Vi rows are where Finland parts ways with its Nordic neighbours. The five cost ₹951 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026.
We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.
| Pack | Price | Data · days | Calls · SMS | ≈ ₹ per GB |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jio IR Voice & Data (100 countries) | ₹951 | 4 GB · 10 days | 100 min out + 100 in · 25 SMS | about ₹238 |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 5 days | ₹998 | 4 GB · 5 days | 150 min · 20 SMS | about ₹250 |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 10 days | ₹1,298 | 6 GB · 10 days | 200 min · 20 SMS | about ₹216 |
| Vi prepaid Budget, Set 1 countries | ₹1,495 | 2 GB · 15 days | 200 min | about ₹748 |
| Vi prepaid Ultra, 7 days (non-UL zone) | ₹3,495 | 2 GB · 7 days | 200 min | about ₹1,748 |

Which row lasts a 10-day aurora trip without a top-up? At 0.3 GB a day, ten days come to about 3 GB, inside Jio’s 4 GB (our calculation, using the profiles in the data guide). At 0.8 GB a day they come to about 8 GB, more than either 10-day pack holds (4 GB and 6 GB). Our 10 GB over 30 days covers that at ≈ ₹1,292 (12 Oct rate), about ₹129 (US$1.35) per GB, charged US$13.49, plus any markup your card issuer applies. Check the 20 GB row before you pay: it costs ≈ ₹1,340 (12 Oct rate), barely more.
Jio states: “Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data.” Airtel counts a prepaid pack from when your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage; book it up to 30 days before travel, as an unused pack expires with no reimbursement. Our plan counts from its first connection to a Finnish network.

A week in Finland: roaming pack vs eSIM
1.3× cheaper5.6 GB for 7 days (0.8 GB a day, social media and photos): the cheapest prepaid way to get it.
Operator packs also carry calls and SMS on your Indian number; the eSIM is data only. Packs at the operator’s ₹ price, as listed on 13 Oct 2026; the eSIM at the market rate of 13 Oct, charged in US$. Work out your own trip.
Why Vi’s Ultra pack is not unlimited in Finland
Finland is in Vi’s non-UL prepaid zone, so the ₹3,495 Ultra pack gives 2 GB and 200 minutes for 7 days there, not FREE data. Denmark, Sweden and Norway sit in Vi’s unlimited zone, so the same pack changes at the Finnish border. For Finland, Vi’s Budget option is the ₹1,495 row: 2 GB for 15 days.
Vi’s postpaid table puts Finland in Set 2, not in its Set 1 unlimited table, and we could not confirm that this table is current. Our 7-day unlimited plan costs ≈ ₹1,436 (12 Oct rate), charged US$14.99, and drops to 1 Mbps after 3 GB in a day. More on Vi roaming packs.
Finland plan or the Europe plan for a Nordic or Baltic trip
Choose the Finland plan when Finland is the whole trip and the Europe plan when the route crosses a border. The Europe plan lists 41 countries, including Estonia, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. For 10 GB over 30 days, the Finland plan costs ≈ ₹1,292 (12 Oct rate) and the Europe plan ≈ ₹1,819 (12 Oct rate), so the crossing costs more than staying put.
A ferry hop from Helsinki to Tallinn, or a Stockholm leg, is the case for the Europe plan. On Vi, Estonia is also outside the unlimited zone, while Sweden is inside it. The Europe SIM card guide, the Europe eSIM page and the Europe roaming comparison cover the wider route.
Setting up the Finland eSIM before you fly
Install the eSIM in India; it connects when you land in Finland. A QR code install over home Wi-Fi costs no days, because data plan validity starts with the first connection to a Finnish network. iPhone and Android both pick up the access point name without any typing.
On arrival, switch data roaming on for the eSIM line. Confirm your model on the eSIM phone list before buying; the install guide has the screens and the Finland eSIM page has the plans.
Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
Bank OTPs and your Indian number in Finland
Bank OTPs come as SMS to your Indian number, and the Finland plan has no SMS, so it never sees them. Keep the Indian SIM in as a second line with its mobile data off. Before you fly, ask your operator whether SMS reaches you in Finland on your plan; on Jio, check the MyJio app.
No page can promise that every OTP will reach you; the OTP guide covers the dual-SIM settings.
Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee. How card payments work.
Check before you fly
What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in Finland?
Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.
The first is the line for mobile data. On iPhone it is Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data; on Android, the SIM manager. Pick the travel line there; your Indian line stays on for calls and SMS, with its mobile data off.
The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats Finland as roaming for it.
The third is the APN. On this plan it sets itself, so leave it alone; you don’t need to type one.
The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch airplane mode on and off, and let it find DNA; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.
Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimgo.in with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)
For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, ≈ ₹333 (US$3.49). For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, ≈ ₹666 (US$6.99). If you video-call and stream every day, take the unlimited plan for 7 days, ≈ ₹1,428 (US$14.99), with 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.
I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If you need calls or SMS on your Indian number every day, a Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack carries them (compare the packs). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.
FAQ
Will my Indian SIM work in Finland?
It works once international roaming is on, but mobile data needs a roaming pack: with no pack,
Airtel bars prepaid data abroad and Vi keeps mobile data off. Jio, Airtel and Vi all list Finland; the five packs in our table cost ₹951 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026.
Is Vi unlimited roaming unlimited in Finland?
No. Finland is in Vi’s non-UL prepaid zone, where the ₹3,495 Ultra pack gives 2 GB and 200 minutes for 7 days. Vi prints FREE data only for countries in its UL zone, such as Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
When do the days on a Finland eSIM start?
When the eSIM first connects to a Finnish network; a QR code install at home uses none of them. Jio packs start at first use, and Airtel prepaid packs when your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage.
Can I get OTPs and use WhatsApp with a Finland eSIM?
WhatsApp runs on the eSIM’s data. Bank OTPs are SMS to your Indian number, which the Finland plan cannot receive, so keep that SIM active as a second line with its data off. No page can promise that every OTP will reach you.
Is one eSIM enough for Finland and Estonia?
Not the Finland plan, which is for Finland only. The Europe plan lists 41 countries, Finland and Estonia among them. On Vi, the ₹3,495 Ultra pack gives 2 GB in both countries, since neither sits in Vi’s unlimited zone.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Check your exact model on our eSIM phone list first. The phone must run an eSIM next to a physical SIM, so the Indian SIM can stay in for OTPs while the eSIM carries the data.
