Georgia SIM card for Indian travellers: roaming, local SIM or eSIM
For mobile data in Georgia, Indian travellers have an
Airtel or Vi roaming pack, a tourist SIM bought after landing, or a travel eSIM installed in India; Jio lists no pack for Georgia. Airtel’s ₹998 prepaid pack gives 4 GB over 5 days (T&C of 24 Sep 2026), and our data-only eSIM connects on landing.

Georgia eSIM or tourist SIM: what Indian travellers need
Jio lists no pack for Georgia, so a Jio user has no Jio roaming pack to buy. An eSIM for Georgia installed in India gives you mobile data when you land: plans start at ≈ ₹334 (12 Oct rate) for 1 GB over 7 days, charged US$3.49 by card. They include no calls and no SMS. Next door in Azerbaijan, Jio’s packs do apply.
| Option | Price | What you need | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack | Depends on the operator’s pack | Roaming switched on and a pack bought before you fly | Data is fixed per pack; check that the pack covers Georgia |
| Pocket Wi-Fi router | Not verified | Collect it, keep it charged and return it | One connection for the group, only while you stay together |
| Local SIM bought on arrival | Not verified | A free SIM slot and a shop after landing | On a one-slot phone it replaces your Indian SIM and its OTPs |
| Travel eSIM from this site | from ≈ ₹338 US$3.49 by card; from ≈ ₹155 per GB | An eSIM phone that is not locked to one operator | Data only: no calls or SMS on your Indian number |
Pack prices as listed by Jio, Airtel and Vi on 12 Oct 2026; ₹ per GB is our derivation (price ÷ GB). eSIM prices are an estimate at the day’s rate; your card is charged in US$.
A Georgia tourist SIM is a physical card you buy after landing, and it needs a free SIM slot. We have not verified current local offers, so this page names no Georgian operator and quotes no Georgia SIM card price in lari. On a one-slot phone, a local SIM also takes the place of your Indian SIM and the OTPs it receives.
Indian nationals made 84,364 departures to Georgia in 2025, up from 53,774 in 2024. That is about +57% by our calculation from Ministry of Tourism tables. Other destinations popular with Indian travellers have their own country guides.
Install the eSIM in India; it connects when you land abroad. The data plan validity starts at the first connection to a Georgian network, so installing early uses none of its days. Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
eSIM for Georgia: most chosen plans
Charged US$3.49 by card. Your bank converts the US$ charge at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee — how card payment works.

Jio has no pack for Georgia: what Airtel and Vi offer
Georgia is in none of Jio’s data-pack country lists, and it is missing from the Global Pack list too (read on 12 Oct 2026).
Airtel’s single pack set includes Georgia, as do Vi’s prepaid non-UL zone and its Budget Set2 list. The four packs in our table cost ₹998 to ₹5,195 as listed on 12 Oct 2026. Jio has a similar gap in Bhutan and the Maldives, where only its Global Pack balance applies; see the Bhutan guide.
Where Jio does sell packs, our Jio roaming guide sets them out by zone.
We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.
| Pack | ₹ | Data | Days | Minutes | ₹ per GB (ours) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Airtel prepaid IR | ₹998 | 4 GB | 5 | 150 | about ₹250 |
| Airtel prepaid IR | ₹1,298 | 6 GB | 10 | 200 | about ₹216 |
| Vi Ultra, non-UL | ₹5,195 | 5 GB | 14 | 500 | about ₹1,039 |
| Vi Budget Set2 | ₹1,495 | 750 MB | 15 | 100 | about ₹1,993 |

For comparison, 5 GB for 30 days on our Georgia eSIM costs ≈ ₹909 (12 Oct rate), about ₹182 (US$1.90) per GB, charged US$9.49. Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee. How card payments work.
The Airtel packs are the better choice for a trip of up to 10 days when you need calls on your Indian number, and per GB they work out lower than our 5 GB plan. Our plan runs 30 days and carries data only. Without a pack, Airtel bars prepaid data abroad and Vi keeps mobile data off. Some postpaid and annual plans now bundle a few days of roaming — check your plan in the Airtel or Vi app before you travel.

Georgia plan or the Europe regional plan
Georgia is one of 41 countries in our Europe regional plan, so one eSIM can cover Georgia, Türkiye and a Europe leg; the Europe SIM card guide sets that plan against roaming. In our catalogue on 12 Oct 2026, the Europe plan’s 30-day rows for 3, 5 and 10 GB cost less than the Georgia rows of the same size. Compare both before you pay.
For 5 GB over 30 days, the Georgia plan costs ≈ ₹909 (12 Oct rate) and the Europe plan ≈ ₹1,148 (12 Oct rate). The Georgia plan keeps the lower price only on its smallest row: 1 GB over 7 days costs ≈ ₹334 (12 Oct rate), against ≈ ₹478 (12 Oct rate) on the Europe plan.
One detail favours the Georgia plan. Our catalogue sets its APN automatically on iPhone and Android, while the Europe plan needs the APN entered by hand on Android; the APN guide shows where. Our Georgia plan does not promise service in Abkhazia, and the Europe plan’s details do not mention the region. The Europe eSIM page lists all 41 countries.
Students in Georgia: the first weeks
A student landing in Tbilisi needs mobile data from day one, before a local connection is set up. A 30-day eSIM covers those first weeks: on the Georgia plan 3 GB costs ≈ ₹861 (12 Oct rate) and 10 GB costs ≈ ₹2,298 (12 Oct rate). The Europe plan sells the same sizes for ≈ ₹861 (12 Oct rate) and ≈ ₹1,819 (12 Oct rate).
Keep your Indian SIM in the phone for OTPs; the OTP guide shows the dual-SIM settings. Check your model on the eSIM phone list.
Check before you fly
What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in Georgia?
Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.
The first is the line for mobile data. On iPhone it is Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data; on Android, the SIM manager. Pick the travel line there; your Indian line stays on for calls and SMS, with its mobile data off.
The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats Georgia as roaming for it.
The third is the APN. On this plan it sets itself, so leave it alone; you don’t need to type one.
The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch airplane mode on and off, and let it find Cellfie; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.
Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimgo.in with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)
For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, ≈ ₹338 (US$3.49). For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, ≈ ₹918 (US$9.49).
I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If you need calls or SMS on your Indian number every day, a Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack carries them (compare the packs). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.
FAQ
Will my Indian SIM work in Georgia?
An
Airtel or Vi SIM works once international roaming is on, but for mobile data plan on a roaming pack: without one, Airtel bars prepaid data abroad and Vi keeps mobile data off. Jio lists no pack for Georgia, and Georgia is not on its Global Pack country list either.
Do I need to buy a Georgia SIM card?
No. A data-only eSIM installed in India gives you data on landing. Buy a Georgia SIM card only if you need a Georgian number, and keep your Indian SIM for OTPs.
Can I get OTPs and use WhatsApp with a Georgia eSIM?
WhatsApp runs on the eSIM’s data. OTPs arrive by SMS on your Indian number, which a data-only eSIM cannot receive, so keep your Indian SIM active and check SMS roaming with your operator.
How do I install the Georgia eSIM before I fly?
At home on Wi-Fi, open your phone’s SIM settings, add an eSIM and scan the QR code you receive after payment. The plan connects when you land in Georgia.
