Poland SIM card for Indian travellers: roaming, local SIM or eSIM

Wawel Castle above the Vistula: what a Poland SIM card or eSIM gives you on arrival.

Three routes give you data in Poland: a Jio, or Vi roaming pack on your Indian SIM, a Poland SIM card bought after landing, or a data eSIM installed in India before you fly. Our Poland eSIM starts at ≈ ₹285 (13 Oct rate) for 1 GB over 7 days, charged US$2.99 by card, with no calls and no SMS.

  3. Activation first network on the trip · the clock starts
You can install the profile at home up to 365 days after purchase. The plan’s validity starts only when your phone first registers on a network in Poland.

Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee.

Poland eSIM or local SIM: what Indian travellers need

Tickets, maps and messages in Poland all run on data. A data eSIM installed in India gives you that from the airport onward and leaves your Indian SIM in the phone for bank OTPs. Buy a Poland SIM card only when someone there must ring you on a local number. Our plan runs on the P4 network, which our Poland page shows as 5G. If Poland is one stop of a longer route, our SIM guides by country cover the others.

The 1 GB row is a trial size: at 0.3 GB a day it lasts about three days (our calculation). A 14-day trip at that pace uses about 4.2 GB and fits the 5 GB row at ≈ ₹666 (13 Oct rate). Hunting for one SIM for all of Poland? Ours is a country plan on a single host network, and we promise no signal in any given spot.

Six fixed-data plans run from 1 GB over 7 days to 20 GB over 30 days, and six unlimited plans from 3 to 30 days; unlimited slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB in a day. Hotspot / tethering use draws on the same data allowance; our plan details do not state a hotspot rule. The Poland page lists an install window of 365 days.

Your Jio, Airtel or Vi pack in Poland vs this eSIM

Jio, and Vi each sell roaming packs that list Poland, and the five in our table cost ₹951 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026. Every one adds minutes on your Indian number, which our data-only eSIM lacks. Poland sits in Vi’s unlimited zone, so the ₹3,495 Ultra pack prints its data as FREE.

We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.

Source: operator documents (Jio plan list · Airtel T&C PDF · Vi prepaid T&C PDF); Jio checked 13 Oct 2026, Airtel 13 Oct 2026, Vi 13 Oct 2026. The ≈ ₹ per GB column is our division of price by data. Airtel’s FAQ page still shows older prices; its T&C dated 24 Sep 2026 list ₹998 and ₹1,298.

Vi’s FREE and our unlimited are different promises. Seven days of unlimited data on our Poland plan cost ≈ ₹1,428 (13 Oct rate), charged US$14.99, and slow to 1 Mbps after 3 GB in a day. Vi’s pack prints its data as FREE and adds calls on your Indian number. Vi’s postpaid table also lists Poland in its unlimited Set 1, though we could not confirm that this country table is current.

Which pack still works on day 8 of a two-week Poland and Prague trip? Jio’s ₹951 pack stays valid to day 10 and its ₹1,551 pack to day 14; Airtel’s ₹1,298 pack runs to day 10; Vi’s Ultra pack ends after 7 days. Outside the table, Vi’s ₹5,195 Ultra pack runs 14 days with FREE data in Poland, and Airtel’s ₹2,998 prepaid pack gives 10 GB over 30 days, as listed on 13 Oct 2026.

For 4 to 5 GB, our 5 GB row at ≈ ₹666 (13 Oct rate) (about ₹133 (US$1.40) per GB) costs less than Airtel’s ₹998 for 4 GB at prices on 13 Oct 2026. Airtel’s price includes 150 minutes on your Indian number; ours includes none.

Jio states: “Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data.” Airtel counts a prepaid pack from when your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage; book it up to 30 days before travel, because an unused pack expires with no reimbursement.

Poland plan or the Europe plan for Krakow plus Prague, Berlin or Vienna

Buy the Poland plan for a Poland-only trip and the Europe plan once the route crosses a border. The Europe plan lists Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria among its 41 countries; the Poland plan covers Poland alone.

At prices on 13 Oct 2026, 10 GB over 30 days costs ≈ ₹857 (13 Oct rate) on the Poland plan, ≈ ₹952 (13 Oct rate) on the Czech Republic plan and ≈ ₹1,809 (13 Oct rate) on the Europe plan. The two country plans together cost about the same as the Europe plan (our addition), so price does not decide it. Two country plans give two 10 GB pools and two installs; the Europe plan gives one shared pool and one install. After a Krakow to Prague rail leg with heavy use in both cities, take the pair; for light use throughout, take the Europe plan, which asks for its access point name on Android, typed in from your order e-mail.

Vi’s terms hold on this route: Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany all sit in its unlimited zone. The Europe SIM card guide, the Europe eSIM page and the Europe roaming comparison cover the wider choice.

Local SIM after landing vs an eSIM bought in India

A physical Poland SIM card from a local operator needs a free slot. On a single-slot phone it pushes out your Indian SIM, and bank OTPs stop until you swap back. An eSIM needs no slot. A Poland tourist SIM gives you a local number, which our data-only plan does not. We quote no Poland SIM card price because we have not verified current local rates, and no plan is the best eSIM for Poland on every trip.

Setting up the Poland eSIM before you fly

Do the install at home: scan the QR code from your order e-mail over Wi-Fi, then keep the eSIM line switched off until the flight. Data plan validity starts at the first connection to a Polish network, so a QR code install in India costs no days. Both iPhone and Android fill in the access point name on their own.

On landing, switch data roaming on for the eSIM line; the data roaming guide shows how. Check your phone on the eSIM phone list before paying, follow the install guide screen by screen, and pick a size on the Poland eSIM page.

Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.

Bank OTPs and your Indian number in Poland

Banks send OTPs as SMS to your Indian number, and the Poland plan has no SMS. Keep the Indian SIM in the phone as a second line with its mobile data off. Ask Jio, or Vi whether SMS reaches you in Poland on your plan; on Vi, a ₹118 prepaid pack makes incoming SMS free for 28 days, with other use at standard rates (13 Oct 2026), and on Jio you check the MyJio app.

No page can promise that every OTP will reach you. The OTP guide has the dual-SIM settings, and how card payments work explains the dollar charge.

Check before you fly

What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in Poland?

Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.

The first is the line for mobile data. On iPhone it is Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data; on Android, the SIM manager. Pick the travel line there; your Indian line stays on for calls and SMS, with its mobile data off.

The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats Poland as roaming for it.

The third is the APN. On this plan it sets itself, so leave it alone; you don’t need to type one.

The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch airplane mode on and off, and let it find P4; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.

Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimgo.in with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.

What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)

For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, ≈ ₹285 (US$2.99). For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, ≈ ₹666 (US$6.99). If you video-call and stream every day, take the unlimited plan for 7 days, ≈ ₹1,428 (US$14.99), with 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.

I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If you need calls or SMS on your Indian number every day, a Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack carries them (compare the packs). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.

FAQ

Will my Indian SIM work in Poland?

A Jio, or Vi SIM works once international roaming is on, but for mobile data plan on a roaming pack: without one, Airtel bars prepaid data abroad and Vi keeps mobile data off. All three list Poland; the five packs in our table cost ₹951 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026.

Do I need to buy a SIM card in Poland?

Only when you need a Polish number. For data, an eSIM installed in India works from landing and needs no free slot. A physical card takes a slot, so on a single-slot phone your Indian SIM, and its OTPs, stay out until you swap back.

When do the days on a Poland eSIM start?

At the first connection to a Polish network; an install at home over Wi-Fi uses no days. Jio’s packs begin at first usage, while Airtel’s prepaid packs begin once your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage.

Can I get OTPs and use WhatsApp with a Poland eSIM?

WhatsApp works over the eSIM’s data. Bank OTPs arrive as SMS on your Indian number, which the data-only Poland plan cannot receive, so keep that SIM on as a second line with data off. No page can promise that every OTP will reach you.

Is one eSIM enough for Poland and the Czech Republic?

Not on the Poland plan, which covers Poland alone. The Europe plan lists Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria. On Vi, the ₹3,495 Ultra pack shows FREE data in Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany alike.

Does my phone support eSIM?

Look up your exact model on our eSIM phone list before paying. The phone has to run an eSIM and a physical SIM at once, so the Indian SIM can stay in for OTPs while the eSIM handles data.
