Czech Republic SIM card for Indian travellers: roaming, local SIM or eSIM
Data in the Czech Republic comes three ways: a Jio,
Airtel or Vi roaming pack on your Indian SIM, a Czech Republic SIM card from a local operator after landing, or a data eSIM installed in India. Our Czech eSIM starts at ≈ ₹237 (13 Oct rate) for 1 GB over 7 days, charged US$2.49 by card, and carries no calls or SMS.

Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee.
Czech Republic eSIM or local SIM: what Indian travellers need
Searching for a Prague SIM card? There is no Prague-only plan: a Prague eSIM is our Czech country plan. An eSIM for Prague set up in India works from the airport and leaves your Indian SIM in for bank OTPs. A Czech Republic SIM card, sold as a Czech Republic tourist SIM, matters only when someone must call you on a Czech number, and a physical card needs a free slot. We quote no Czech Republic SIM card price because we have not verified current local rates, and the Czech Republic eSIM you pick should follow your trip length. Other countries on a Central Europe route have their own country SIM guides.
| Option | Price | What you need | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack | ₹589 to ₹6,995 a pack from about ₹194 per GB | Roaming switched on and a pack bought before you fly | Costs more per GB than the eSIM |
| Pocket Wi-Fi router | Not verified | Collect it, keep it charged and return it | One connection for the group, only while you stay together |
| Local SIM bought on arrival | Not verified | A free SIM slot and a shop after landing | On a one-slot phone it replaces your Indian SIM and its OTPs |
| Travel eSIM from this site | from ≈ ₹237 US$2.49 by card; from ≈ ₹67 per GB | An eSIM phone that is not locked to one operator | Data only: no calls or SMS on your Indian number |
Pack prices as listed by Jio, Airtel and Vi on 13 Oct 2026; ₹ per GB is our derivation (price ÷ GB). eSIM prices are an estimate at the day’s rate; your card is charged in US$.
Heavy days use more than you expect. At 1.7 GB a day, five days of maps, video and messages come to 8.5 GB (our calculation), which fits the 10 GB row at ≈ ₹952 (13 Oct rate) or the 5-day unlimited plan at ≈ ₹1,142 (13 Oct rate). The 5 GB row at ≈ ₹571 (13 Oct rate) costs only a little more than the 3 GB row at ≈ ₹475 (13 Oct rate). Unlimited data plans slow to 1 Mbps after 3 GB in a day. Hotspot / tethering use draws on the same data allowance; our plan details do not state a hotspot rule.

Your Jio, Airtel or Vi pack in the Czech Republic vs this eSIM
The Czech Republic is on all three operators’ lists, and the five packs in our table cost ₹951 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026. Every pack adds minutes on your Indian number, which our data-only eSIM lacks. With the Czech Republic in Vi’s unlimited zone, the ₹3,495 Ultra pack prints its data as FREE.
We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.
| Pack | Price | Data · days | Calls · SMS | ≈ ₹ per GB |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jio IR Voice & Data (100 countries) | ₹951 | 4 GB · 10 days | 100 min out + 100 in · 25 SMS | about ₹238 |
| Jio IR Voice & Data (100 countries) | ₹1,551 | 8 GB · 14 days | 100 min out + 100 in · 50 SMS | about ₹194 |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 5 days | ₹998 | 4 GB · 5 days | 150 min · 20 SMS | about ₹250 |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 10 days | ₹1,298 | 6 GB · 10 days | 200 min · 20 SMS | about ₹216 |
| Vi prepaid Ultra, 7 days (UL zone) | ₹3,495 | data printed as FREE · 7 days | calls included, per Vi | not applicable |
Sources for the rows are the operator documents linked in each one: Jio checked 13 Oct 2026,
Airtel 13 Oct 2026, Vi 13 Oct 2026. The ≈ ₹ per GB figures are our own division of price by data. Airtel’s FAQ page still shows older prices, and its T&C dated 24 Sep 2026 list ₹998 and ₹1,298. Sources: Jio plan list · Airtel T&C PDF · Vi prepaid T&C PDF.
For a week in Prague, compare the nearest sizes. At prices on 13 Oct 2026, our 5 GB row costs less than Jio’s ₹951 for 4 GB, and our 10 GB row less than Airtel’s ₹1,298 for 6 GB. Both operator packs bundle minutes on your Indian number and ours bundle none, so a trip with long calls home can still favour the pack. Vi’s postpaid table lists the Czech Republic in its unlimited Set 1 too, though we could not confirm that this country table is current.
Jio states: “Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data.” Airtel starts a prepaid pack when your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage. It sells packs up to 30 days before travel, and one you do not use within those 30 days expires with no reimbursement.

A week in the Czech Republic: roaming pack vs eSIM
1.3× cheaper5.6 GB for 7 days (0.8 GB a day, social media and photos): the cheapest prepaid way to get it.
Operator packs also carry calls and SMS on your Indian number; the eSIM is data only. Packs at the operator’s ₹ price, as listed on 13 Oct 2026; the eSIM at the market rate of 13 Oct, charged in US$. Work out your own trip.
Prague, Vienna and Budapest on one trip: country plans or the Europe plan
The Europe plan lists the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Germany and Poland among its 41 countries, so one eSIM covers the Prague, Vienna and Budapest triangle. No Hungary guide exists on this site; the Hungary eSIM page lists its plans.
At prices on 13 Oct 2026, a 5 GB row over 30 days costs ≈ ₹571 (13 Oct rate) in the Czech Republic, ≈ ₹666 (13 Oct rate) in Austria and ≈ ₹857 (13 Oct rate) in Hungary, against ≈ ₹1,809 (13 Oct rate) for the Europe plan’s 10 GB row. The three country plans together cost about 16% more than the Europe plan (our calculation) and give three 5 GB pools and three installs, where the Europe plan gives one shared 10 GB pool. For light use on a three-city rail trip, one Europe plan is the simpler purchase. Heavy use in a single city favours that country’s plan.
Vi’s unlimited zone covers all three cities, so Ultra data prints as FREE from Prague to Budapest. The Europe SIM card guide, the Europe eSIM page, the Germany guide and the Europe roaming comparison cover the wider choices.
Two host networks: what the Czech plan connects to
The Czech page lists two host networks, O2 and
Vodafone (the Czech network, not Vi), both shown as 4G. We cannot tell you which one your phone will use at a given spot, and we do not promise that it can use both at once or switch between them. We hold no regional coverage data for the Czech Republic, so ask us before you rely on a remote route.
Looking for one SIM for all of the Czech Republic? This is a country plan, and we promise no signal in any given spot. The Czech page lists an install window of 365 days.
Setting up the Czech Republic eSIM before you fly
Install the eSIM in India; it connects when you land abroad. Over home Wi-Fi, scan the QR code in your order e-mail, then keep the line off until the flight. Data plan validity runs from the first connection to a Czech network, so a QR code install at home uses no days, and iPhone and Android fill in the access point name themselves.
Turn data roaming on for the eSIM line once you land, as the data roaming guide explains. Look up your phone on the eSIM phone list, use the install guide for each screen, and see the plans on the Czech Republic eSIM page.
Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
Bank OTPs and your Indian number in Prague
OTPs from your bank travel as SMS to your Indian number, and the Czech plan has no SMS. Leave the Indian SIM in the phone as a second line with its mobile data off. Whether SMS reaches you in Prague depends on your plan, so ask Jio,
Airtel or Vi first. Vi’s ₹118 prepaid pack makes incoming SMS free for 28 days, other use at standard rates (13 Oct 2026); Jio users can check the MyJio app.
No page can promise that every OTP will reach you. The OTP guide covers the dual-SIM settings, and how card payments work explains the dollar charge.
Check before you fly
What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in the Czech Republic?
Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.
The first is the line for mobile data. On iPhone it is Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data; on Android, the SIM manager. Pick the travel line there; your Indian line stays on for calls and SMS, with its mobile data off.
The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats the Czech Republic as roaming for it.
The third is the APN. On this plan it sets itself, so leave it alone; you don’t need to type one.
The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch airplane mode on and off, and let it find O2 and Vodafone; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.
Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimgo.in with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)
For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, ≈ ₹237 (US$2.49). For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, ≈ ₹571 (US$5.99). If you video-call and stream every day, take the unlimited plan for 7 days, ≈ ₹1,428 (US$14.99), with 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.
I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If you need calls or SMS on your Indian number every day, a Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack carries them (compare the packs). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.
FAQ
Will my Indian SIM work in the Czech Republic?
Once international roaming is on, yes, but mobile data needs a roaming pack: without one,
Airtel bars prepaid data abroad and Vi keeps mobile data off. Jio, Airtel and Vi all list the Czech Republic; our table’s five packs cost ₹951 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026.
Which SIM is best for Prague?
No SIM is best on every trip. A data eSIM installed in India works from landing and keeps your Indian SIM in for OTPs; an operator pack adds minutes on your Indian number; a physical Czech SIM brings a local number but takes a slot. Our dated pack table sets them side by side.
When do the days on a Czech Republic eSIM start?
At the first connection to a Czech network; installing at home on Wi-Fi uses no days. Jio’s packs start at first usage, and Airtel’s prepaid packs once your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage.
Can I get OTPs and use WhatsApp with a Czech eSIM?
WhatsApp runs on the eSIM’s data. Bank OTPs arrive as SMS on your Indian number, which the data-only Czech plan cannot receive, so keep the Indian SIM as a second line with data off. No page can promise that every OTP will reach you.
Is one eSIM enough for Prague, Vienna and Budapest?
Not on the Czech plan, which covers the Czech Republic alone. The Europe plan lists the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary, and Vi’s ₹3,495 Ultra pack shows FREE data in all three. Compare the Europe plan’s price with three country plans before you buy.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Look up your exact model on our eSIM phone list before you pay. It has to run an eSIM and a physical SIM at once, which keeps the Indian SIM in for OTPs while the eSIM handles data.
