Belgium SIM card for Indian travellers: roaming, local SIM or eSIM
Your Indian SIM can carry data in Belgium on a Jio,
Airtel or Vi roaming pack. The alternatives are a Belgium SIM card from a local operator after landing and a data eSIM installed in India. Our Belgium eSIM starts at ≈ ₹285 (13 Oct rate) for 1 GB over 7 days, charged US$2.99 by card, and has no calls or SMS.

Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee.
Belgium eSIM or local SIM: what Indian travellers need
A Belgium stay leans on data for train tickets, maps and messaging far more than on a Belgian number. A data eSIM installed in India works from the arrival hall and leaves your Indian SIM free for bank OTPs. A Belgium tourist SIM matters only when someone must call you on a local line, and a physical Belgium SIM card needs a free slot that your Indian SIM may be using. We quote no Belgium SIM card price because we have not verified current local rates, and no plan is the best eSIM for Belgium on every trip. Our plan connects to BASE, which our Belgium page shows as 5G, and we say nothing about other Belgian networks. For other stops on the route, see our international SIM guides.
| Option | Price | What you need | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack | ₹589 to ₹6,995 a pack from about ₹194 per GB | Roaming switched on and a pack bought before you fly | Costs more per GB than the eSIM |
| Pocket Wi-Fi router | Not verified | Collect it, keep it charged and return it | One connection for the group, only while you stay together |
| Local SIM bought on arrival | Not verified | A free SIM slot and a shop after landing | On a one-slot phone it replaces your Indian SIM and its OTPs |
| Travel eSIM from this site | from ≈ ₹285 US$2.99 by card; from ≈ ₹67 per GB | An eSIM phone that is not locked to one operator | Data only: no calls or SMS on your Indian number |
Pack prices as listed by Jio, Airtel and Vi on 13 Oct 2026; ₹ per GB is our derivation (price ÷ GB). eSIM prices are an estimate at the day’s rate; your card is charged in US$.
Asking for one SIM for all of Belgium? The Belgium plan is a country plan on that single host network, and we promise no signal in any given spot. It comes in twelve rows: six fixed-data plans from 1 GB over 7 days to 20 GB over 30 days, and six unlimited plans from 3 to 30 days that slow to 1 Mbps after 3 GB in a day. Hotspot / tethering use draws on the same data allowance; our plan details do not state a hotspot rule. The Belgium page lists an install window of 365 days.

Charged US$2.99 by card. Your bank converts the US$ charge at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee — how card payment works.

Your Jio, Airtel or Vi pack in Belgium vs this eSIM
Belgium is on all three operators’ lists, and the five packs in our table cost ₹951 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026. Each adds minutes on your Indian number, which our data-only eSIM lacks. Because Belgium sits in Vi’s unlimited zone, Vi prints the Ultra pack’s data here as FREE.
We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.
| Pack | Price | Data · days | Calls · SMS | ≈ ₹ per GB |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jio IR Voice & Data (100 countries) | ₹951 | 4 GB · 10 days | 100 min out + 100 in · 25 SMS | about ₹238 |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 5 days | ₹998 | 4 GB · 5 days | 150 min · 20 SMS | about ₹250 |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 10 days | ₹1,298 | 6 GB · 10 days | 200 min · 20 SMS | about ₹216 |
| Vi prepaid Ultra, 7 days (UL zone) | ₹3,495 | data printed as FREE · 7 days | calls included, per Vi | not applicable |
| Vi prepaid Budget, Set 1 | ₹1,495 | 2 GB · 15 days | 200 min | about ₹748 |

Table sources are the operator documents linked in each row, read on 13 Oct 2026 (Jio), 13 Oct 2026 (
Airtel) and 13 Oct 2026 (Vi). We derived the ≈ ₹ per GB column by dividing price by data. Airtel’s own FAQ page still lists older prices; its T&C dated 24 Sep 2026 give ₹998 and ₹1,298.
Belgium sits in two separate Vi lists, and each carries its own pack. The Ultra pack takes its FREE data from the unlimited zone; the ₹1,495 Budget pack, from Vi’s Budget Set 1, gives 2 GB and 200 minutes over 15 days, a light-data option for a long stay. One pack’s allowance tells you nothing about the other’s. Vi’s postpaid table also lists Belgium in its unlimited Set 1, though we could not confirm that this country table is current.
Validity starts at different moments. Jio states: “Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data.” Airtel’s prepaid clock runs from the moment your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage, and you can book up to 30 days before travel; a pack you do not use within 30 days expires with no reimbursement.

A week in Belgium: roaming pack vs eSIM
1.5× cheaper5.6 GB for 7 days (0.8 GB a day, social media and photos): the cheapest prepaid way to get it.
Operator packs also carry calls and SMS on your Indian number; the eSIM is data only. Packs at the operator’s ₹ price, as listed on 13 Oct 2026; the eSIM at the market rate of 13 Oct, charged in US$. Work out your own trip.
Brussels with Paris or Amsterdam: Belgium plan or the Europe plan
Buy the Belgium plan if Belgium is the whole trip and the Europe plan if a train takes you over a border. The Europe plan lists Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Germany among its 41 countries; the Belgium plan covers Belgium alone.
Here is the arithmetic for Brussels plus Amsterdam, at prices on 13 Oct 2026. A 5 GB row over 30 days costs ≈ ₹666 (13 Oct rate) on the Belgium plan, ≈ ₹666 (13 Oct rate) on the Netherlands plan and ≈ ₹1,142 (13 Oct rate) on the Europe plan; the Europe plan’s 10 GB row costs ≈ ₹1,809 (13 Oct rate). The two 5 GB country plans together cost more than the Europe plan’s 5 GB row and less than its 10 GB row (our addition). If the whole trip needs 5 GB or less, one Europe plan costs less and needs one install. If each country needs its own 5 GB, the pair gives 10 GB in total for less.
Vi’s terms follow you along this route: Belgium, France and the Netherlands are all in its unlimited zone. The Europe SIM card guide, the Europe eSIM page and the Europe roaming comparison cover the wider options.
Short trips: 3- and 5-day rows vs a 5-day Airtel pack
For a short Belgium stay, size the data first. At 0.3 GB a day, three days use about 0.9 GB (our calculation), which fits the 1 GB row. At 0.8 GB a day, five days use 4 GB, the exact allowance of
Airtel’s ₹998 pack. Our fixed rows for that use are the 5 GB row at ≈ ₹666 (13 Oct rate) and, for unlimited data, the 5-day plan at ≈ ₹1,047 (13 Oct rate); the 3-day unlimited plan costs ≈ ₹857 (13 Oct rate), with the same 1 Mbps limit after 3 GB in a day.
Our test for a pack-or-eSIM verdict is the shortest pack from each operator that lasts the whole trip, ranked by price per GB, with Vi’s FREE-data rows left out. For five days in Belgium, Airtel’s ₹998 pack (4 GB, about ₹250 per GB) comes first. Jio’s shortest pack that lasts is the ₹599 data pack (1 GB over 7 days, no calls, about ₹599 per GB), and Vi’s is the ₹755 Budget pack (1 GB over 5 days in Set 1, no calls). Jio’s ₹951 pack lasts 10 days (about ₹238 per GB if you use the extra days). At prices on 13 Oct 2026 our 5 GB row costs less than Airtel’s ₹998 pack, but Airtel’s pack is the better choice when you need to call India: it bundles 150 minutes, and our rows bundle none.
Setting up the Belgium eSIM before you fly
Set the eSIM up in India and let it connect in Belgium. Scan the QR code in your order e-mail on home Wi-Fi and turn the line off until you board. Data plan validity begins with the first connection to a Belgian network, so a QR code install at home uses up no days; iPhone and Android enter the access point name for you.
In Belgium, turn data roaming on for the eSIM line, as the data roaming guide shows. Check your model on the eSIM phone list before paying; the install guide has each screen, and the plans are on the Belgium eSIM page.
Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
Bank OTPs and your Indian number in Belgium
An Indian bank sends its OTP by SMS to your Indian number, and the Belgium plan carries no SMS. So leave your Indian SIM in the phone as a second line, mobile data off. Whether SMS reaches you in Belgium depends on your plan, so ask Jio,
Airtel or Vi. Vi’s ₹118 prepaid pack makes incoming SMS free for 28 days, other use at standard rates (13 Oct 2026); with Jio, look in the MyJio app.
No page can promise that every OTP will reach you. The OTP guide covers the dual-SIM settings, and how card payments work explains the dollar charge.
Check before you fly
What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in Belgium?
Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.
The first is the line for mobile data. On iPhone it is Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data; on Android, the SIM manager. Pick the travel line there; your Indian line stays on for calls and SMS, with its mobile data off.
The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats Belgium as roaming for it.
The third is the APN. On this plan it sets itself, so leave it alone; you don’t need to type one.
The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch airplane mode on and off, and let it find BASE; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.
Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimgo.in with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)
For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, ≈ ₹285 (US$2.99). For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, ≈ ₹666 (US$6.99). If you video-call and stream every day, take the unlimited plan for 7 days, ≈ ₹1,428 (US$14.99), with 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.
I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If you need calls or SMS on your Indian number every day, a Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack carries them (compare the packs). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.
FAQ
Will my Indian SIM work in Belgium?
Yes, once international roaming is on, but plan on a roaming pack for mobile data: without one,
Airtel bars prepaid data abroad and Vi keeps mobile data off. Jio, Airtel and Vi all list Belgium, and the five packs in our table cost ₹951 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026.
Is one eSIM enough for Belgium, France and the Netherlands?
Not on the Belgium plan, which covers Belgium alone. The Europe plan lists Belgium, France and the Netherlands, and Vi’s ₹3,495 Ultra pack shows FREE data in all three. Compare the Europe plan’s price with two country plans before you buy.
When do the days on a Belgium eSIM start?
With the first connection to a Belgian network, not at install: setting it up at home on Wi-Fi uses no days. A Jio pack starts at first usage, and an Airtel prepaid pack when your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage.
Can I get OTPs and use WhatsApp with a Belgium eSIM?
WhatsApp runs on the eSIM’s data. Bank OTPs come as SMS to your Indian number, which a data-only Belgium plan cannot receive; keep that SIM active as a second line with its data off. No page can promise that every OTP will reach you.
Do I need a Belgian number?
Only if someone in Belgium must call or text you locally. Our Belgium plan has no calls and no SMS, so it gives you data but no number. A physical Belgian SIM card brings a number, but takes a slot that your Indian SIM may need.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Check your exact model on our eSIM phone list before you pay. It must run an eSIM and a physical SIM together, which lets the Indian SIM stay in for OTPs while the eSIM carries data.
