Jio, Airtel & Vi roaming in Qatar vs a travel eSIM
Jio international roaming plans for Qatar split in two: the 100-country pack names Qatar in its country list, while the Gulf pack that sounds closer is a conflict case. Vi adds a second split, because Doha sits outside its UL zone. Every one of the twelve packs in our two tables caps its data in Qatar, so each gets a price per GB, checked on 13 Oct 2026.
Short answer: which Indian packs cover Qatar
Lowest per GB in our tables: Jio’s ₹1,551 pack from the 100-country list, 8 GB over 14 days, about ₹194. For a week,
Airtel’s ₹1,298 prepaid pack (6 GB, 10 days) comes lowest at about ₹216 per GB. Vi is the exception: Qatar is non-UL there, so the 7-day Ultra gives 2 GB and the 14-day Ultra 5 GB. Prices as listed on 13 Oct 2026.
Which Indian SIM works in Qatar? All three list it and work once roaming is on; the pack decides the data, and calls on your Indian number are the case for buying one. A Qatar eSIM from India covers data only: ours runs on
Vodafone (the Qatari network, unrelated to Vi) on 5G, and its days start at the first connection in Qatar.
India’s Ministry of Tourism counts 1,152,442 departures to Qatar in 2025, against 1,140,407 in 2024, about 1% more (our calculation); 33.35% were leisure or business trips. The Ministry of External Affairs lists 830,491 non-resident Indians in Qatar (January 2026).
We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.
Jio international roaming plans for Qatar: the Gulf pack and the 100-country pack
The Gulf pack has three rows: ₹898 (1 GB, 7 days), ₹1,598 (3 GB, 14 days) and ₹2,998 (7 GB, 21 days). Jio’s description of this pack says UAE only, while another note on the same page lists six Gulf countries; confirm in the MyJio app before you rely on it in Qatar.
The Jio Qatar pack free of that conflict is the 100-country voice-and-data pack, which lists Qatar outright; so do the 75-country, World Pack and data-pack lists. The four rows below are a selection from those lists, and Jio sells the same packs to prepaid and postpaid customers.
eSIM Go is not affiliated with Jio,
Airtel, Vi or BSNL. Pack details are taken from their own pages on the date shown.
| Jio pack (Qatar on its list) | Days | Data | Price | Calls and SMS | ≈ ₹ per GB | Source, 13 Oct 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| IR Data pack, data only | 7 | 1 GB | ₹599 | no minutes | about ₹599 | Jio |
| IR Voice & Data, 100 countries | 10 | 4 GB | ₹951 | 100 min out, 100 in, 25 SMS | about ₹238 | Jio |
| IR Voice & Data, 100 countries | 14 | 8 GB | ₹1,551 | 100 min out, 100 in, 50 SMS | about ₹194 | Jio |
| East Asia, Europe and US pack (100-country list) | 30 | 12 GB | ₹2,851 | 150 min out, 150 in, 100 SMS | about ₹238 | Jio |
Per GB, the Gulf rows work out at about ₹898, ₹533 and ₹428 (our division). On pack validity, Jio says: “Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data.”

Airtel and Vi packs for Qatar, and why Vi’s Ultra data is capped there (table)
Airtel sells one prepaid set for every covered country, so the Airtel IR pack Qatar travellers buy is the standard ₹998, ₹1,298 or ₹2,998. A prepaid pack can be booked up to 30 days before travel; if you do not travel within 30 days, it expires with no reimbursement. Vi lists Qatar twice on the prepaid side: in the non-UL zone, which sets the Ultra data, and in Budget Set 1. The rows are in trip-length order.
| Pack | Days | Data | Price | Minutes | ≈ ₹ per GB | Source, checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Airtel prepaid | 5 | 4 GB | ₹998 | 150 | about ₹250 | Airtel 13 Oct 2026 |
| Airtel prepaid | 10 | 6 GB | ₹1,298 | 200 | about ₹216 | Airtel 13 Oct 2026 |
| Vi Ultra, non-UL | 7 | 2 GB | ₹3,495 | 200 | about ₹1,748 | Vi 13 Oct 2026 |
| Vi Budget, Set 1 | 10 | 1.25 GB | ₹995 | 100 | about ₹796 | Vi 13 Oct 2026 |
| Vi Ultra, non-UL | 14 | 5 GB | ₹5,195 | 500 | about ₹1,039 | Vi 13 Oct 2026 |
| Vi Budget, Set 1 | 15 | 2 GB | ₹1,495 | 200 | about ₹748 | Vi 13 Oct 2026 |
| Airtel prepaid | 30 | 10 GB | ₹2,998 | 300 | about ₹300 | Airtel 13 Oct 2026 |
| Vi Budget, Set 1 | 30 | 5 GB | ₹2,998 | 200 | about ₹600 | Vi 13 Oct 2026 |
Vi prints Ultra data as FREE only inside its 40-country UL zone. Of the Gulf states only Kuwait and the UAE sit in it; Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain do not. So Vi roaming in Qatar reads differently from Dubai: the ₹3,495 Ultra pack, FREE data in Dubai, gives 2 GB and 200 minutes in Doha. Vi’s postpaid table puts Qatar in Set 2, not in Set 1 with Kuwait, the UAE and Oman, where data is printed as FREE; we could not confirm that this country table is current.
Vi’s prepaid T&C say IR packs are “not applicable for customers in J&K, Assam and North East”. Airtel’s FAQ page still shows ₹898 and ₹1,198; the T&C dated 24 Sep 2026 list ₹998 and ₹1,298.
Qatar with the UAE or Saudi Arabia on one trip: packs vs the Middle East plan
Doha plus Dubai fits one Jio 100-country pack or one
Airtel prepaid pack, since both lists name both countries. Vi is the odd one out: one Ultra pack carries two sets of terms, a few GB in Doha and FREE data in Dubai. Doha plus Riyadh is non-UL on both legs.
Our Middle East plan lists Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and ten more countries, with unlimited rows only, slowing to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day. Seven days on it cost ≈ ₹3,906 (13 Oct rate) and fifteen days ≈ ₹7,526 (13 Oct rate). Seven unlimited days on the Qatar-only plan cost ≈ ₹3,143 (13 Oct rate), with the same 1 Mbps slowdown after 3 GB a day. See the Middle East eSIM page, UAE roaming and Kuwait, where Vi’s verdict is the opposite.
Cost per GB for a 7-day and a 14-day Qatar trip
Verdict test, in words: take each operator’s shortest pack that covers every day of the trip, rank the packs by price per GB, and drop Vi’s FREE-data rows (Qatar has none). The ₹ per GB figures are our division of price by data, from prices listed on 13 Oct 2026.
Seven days in Doha:
Airtel’s ₹1,298 prepaid pack ranks first (about ₹216 per GB, ₹185 a day). Jio comes second with the data pack that lasts seven days exactly, ₹599 for 1 GB and no calls (about ₹599 per GB); add calls and you buy the 10-day ₹951 pack (about ₹238 per GB). Vi ranks last: Ultra at about ₹1,748 per GB, or the 10-day Budget pack at about ₹796.
Fourteen days: the order flips to Jio, whose ₹1,551 pack costs about ₹194 per GB and ₹111 a day. Airtel sells no 14-day prepaid pack, so its fit is the 30-day ₹2,998 pack (about ₹300 per GB). Vi’s 14-day Ultra lands at about ₹1,039 per GB and its 15-day Budget pack at about ₹748.
Our Qatar plans carry data only. On 12 Oct 2026 the catalogue priced 1 GB over 7 days at ≈ ₹285 (13 Oct rate), 2 GB over 15 days at ≈ ₹714 (13 Oct rate), and 5 GB over 30 days at ≈ ₹1,238 (13 Oct rate), about ₹248 (US$2.60) per GB, charged US$12.99 by card. Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee. How card payments work.
Android phones need the APN typed in by hand for these plans, with the value sent with your order (APN guide); on iPhone our catalogue lists no manual APN. The Qatar eSIM page lists every plan. A local SIM after landing is covered in the Qatar SIM card guide: a physical Qatar SIM card from a local operator needs a free slot.
Indian banks text OTPs to your Indian number, and a data-only eSIM has none. To keep the Indian number for OTP codes, run the Indian SIM as the second line with mobile data off. Whether the texts reach you in Doha is your operator’s answer, and nobody can promise delivery; the OTP guide has the set-up.
Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
How we checked these prices
Each row carries its checked on date and a link to the operator’s own document. For international roaming, Qatar appears on Jio’s 100-country, 75-country, World Pack and data-pack lists, on
Airtel’s single list, and on Vi’s non-UL and Budget Set 1 lists. Dividing the price by the GB gives the ₹ per GB column. Vi publishes its country zones as an image, which we transcribed by hand; confirm Qatar in the Vi app.

FAQ
Will my Jio, Airtel or Vi SIM work in Qatar?
Yes once international roaming is on: Jio,
Airtel and Vi each sell roaming packs that list Qatar. For mobile data you need a pack. Without one, Airtel bars prepaid data abroad, and Vi keeps mobile data off until you buy a pack or turn data on at standard rates.
How much is the Airtel IR pack for Qatar?
Qatar gets Airtel’s standard prepaid set: ₹998 for 4 GB over 5 days, ₹1,298 for 6 GB over 10 days, and ₹2,998 for 10 GB over 30 days. Prices are from Airtel’s T&C dated 24 Sep 2026.
Which Jio international roaming plan covers Qatar?
The clearest fit is the 100-country voice-and-data pack: ₹951 for 4 GB over 10 days or ₹1,551 for 8 GB over 14 days (13 Oct 2026). Jio’s Gulf pack reads as UAE only on one line and six Gulf countries on another, so confirm Qatar in the MyJio app first.
Is a travel eSIM cheaper than roaming in Qatar?
That depends on the plan and the day you buy. Of the twelve packs in our tables, Jio’s ₹1,551 (8 GB, 14 days) comes lowest per GB at about ₹194, and Vi’s 7-day Ultra highest at about ₹1,748. Our Qatar plans are data-only, charged in US dollars, with a ≈ ₹ price that moves daily; divide it by the plan’s GB and put it beside the matching pack.
Can I get bank OTPs on my Indian number in Qatar while using an eSIM?
Possibly, but no one can promise it. Banks send the OTP as an SMS to your Indian number, and our eSIM has no Indian number. Leave the Indian SIM in as a second line with mobile data off and ask your operator about SMS in Qatar.
