Israel SIM card for Indian travellers: roaming, local SIM or eSIM
Before a trip to Israel you can choose between a Jio,
Airtel or Vi roaming pack, an Israeli SIM card bought after you arrive, and a data eSIM set up in India. Our Israel eSIM starts at ≈ ₹286 (12 Oct rate) for 1 GB over 7 days, charged US$2.99 by card.

Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee.
Israel eSIM or local SIM: what Indian travellers need
Data covers most of what a visitor does in Israel: maps, ride apps, bookings and WhatsApp. Our Israel eSIM runs on the Annatel 5G network from the moment you land, while your Indian SIM stays in the phone for OTPs. An Israel SIM card matters mainly if someone there must call you. For other stops, see our guides to other destinations.
| Option | Price | What you need | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack | ₹589 to ₹6,995 a pack from about ₹194 per GB | Roaming switched on and a pack bought before you fly | Costs more per GB than the eSIM |
| Pocket Wi-Fi router | Not verified | Collect it, keep it charged and return it | One connection for the group, only while you stay together |
| Local SIM bought on arrival | Not verified | A free SIM slot and a shop after landing | On a one-slot phone it replaces your Indian SIM and its OTPs |
| Travel eSIM from this site | from ≈ ₹285 US$2.99 by card; from ≈ ₹78 per GB | An eSIM phone that is not locked to one operator | Most plans are data only; your Indian number is not on it |
Pack prices as listed by Jio, Airtel and Vi on 13 Oct 2026; ₹ per GB is our derivation (price ÷ GB). eSIM prices are an estimate at the day’s rate; your card is charged in US$.
One rule in our Israel catalogue needs planning: you have 90 days from purchase to install the eSIM. That is a buy-to-install limit, not the plan’s days, which start at the first connection to an Israeli network. Installing at home weeks ahead is fine.
A 10-day visit at about 0.3 GB a day needs about 3 GB (our calculation): the 3 GB row for 30 days costs ≈ ₹574 (12 Oct rate). Heavier use, about 0.8 GB a day, needs 5.6 GB in a week, so take 10 GB at ≈ ₹1,101 (12 Oct rate) or 7 days of unlimited data at ≈ ₹1,723 (12 Oct rate), which slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB in a day. Hotspot / tethering use draws on the same data allowance; our plan details do not state a hotspot rule.
The best eSIM for Israel is the cheapest row that lasts the whole trip.
eSIM for Israel: most chosen plans
Charged US$2.99 by card. Your bank converts the US$ charge at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee — how card payment works.
What it costs per day
Price ÷ days, at the market rate of 13 Oct. A longer plan usually costs less per day: pick by your trip length, not by the lowest daily price.
Your Jio, Airtel or Vi pack in Israel vs this eSIM
Jio,
Airtel and Vi all sell packs for Israel, and each one below bundles minutes on your Indian number. The five packs in our table cost ₹951 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026. Vi is the weak spot here: Israel gets limited data on both of its prepaid pack families shown below.
We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.
| Pack | Price | Data · days | Calls · SMS | ≈ ₹ per GB |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jio IR Voice & Data (100 countries) | ₹951 | 4 GB · 10 days | 100 min out + 100 in · 25 SMS | about ₹238 |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 5 days | ₹998 | 4 GB · 5 days | 150 min · 20 SMS | about ₹250 |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 10 days | ₹1,298 | 6 GB · 10 days | 200 min · 20 SMS | about ₹216 |
| Vi prepaid Ultra, 7 days (non-UL zone) | ₹3,495 | 2 GB · 7 days | 200 min | about ₹1,748 |
| Vi prepaid Budget, Set 2 | ₹1,495 | 750 MB · 15 days | 100 min | about ₹1,993 |
Source: the operator document (Jio plan list · Airtel T&C PDF · Vi prepaid T&C PDF), checked on 13 Oct 2026. The ≈ ₹ per GB column is our derivation (price ÷ GB). Airtel’s FAQ page still shows older prices; its T&C dated 24 Sep 2026 list ₹998 and ₹1,298.
Vi’s two small allowances have two separate causes. Israel is in Vi’s non-UL zone, so the ₹3,495 Ultra pack gives 2 GB instead of the FREE data it prints for UL countries. Israel is also in Budget Set 2, so the ₹1,495 Budget pack gives 750 MB, where Set 1 countries get 2 GB. Vi’s postpaid table lists Israel in Set 1 (unlimited), and we could not confirm that this table is current.
For a calling-heavy trip on your own number, Airtel’s ₹1,298 prepaid pack gives 6 GB and 200 minutes over 10 days, and that can be the better buy. For data alone, our 10 GB over 30 days costs ≈ ₹1,101 (12 Oct rate), about ₹110 (US$1.15) per GB, charged US$11.49, plus any markup your card issuer applies.
Jio states: “Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data.” An Airtel prepaid pack begins when your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage; book it no more than 30 days ahead, or it expires with no reimbursement.

A week in Israel: roaming pack vs eSIM
5.6 GB for 7 days (0.8 GB a day, social media and photos): the cheapest prepaid way to get it.
Operator packs also carry calls and SMS on your Indian number; the eSIM is data only. Packs at the operator’s ₹ price, as listed on 13 Oct 2026; the eSIM at the market rate of 13 Oct, charged in US$. Work out your own trip.
Data-only or a plan with a local number
Next to the data-only rows, our Israel catalogue sells plans with an Israeli number. They let you make calls within Israel, to a hotel or a driver for example, but none of them calls India. Choose one only when someone in Israel needs a number to reach you; for maps and WhatsApp, data-only is enough.
The local-number rows cost more for the same data. On 12 Oct 2026, 10 GB over 30 days costs ≈ ₹1,101 (12 Oct rate) data-only and ≈ ₹2,872 (12 Oct rate) with an Israeli number, which adds 100 minutes and 100 SMS. Look for the “Local number” label on the Israel eSIM page.
A local SIM on arrival is the third route: an Israel SIM card needs a free slot, and on a single-slot phone it pushes out your Indian SIM and its OTPs.
Israel plan or the Middle East plan for a two-country trip
If the trip crosses into Jordan, the Middle East plan lists 13 countries, Israel and Jordan among them, so one eSIM covers both sides. It sells only unlimited rows, from 3 to 30 days, each slowing to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day. The Israel plan covers Israel alone.
The regional plan costs more. On 12 Oct 2026, 7 days of unlimited data cost ≈ ₹1,723 (12 Oct rate) on the Israel plan and ≈ ₹3,926 (12 Oct rate) on the Middle East plan, both slowing to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day. Two country plans can cost less: 5 GB for 30 days costs ≈ ₹765 (12 Oct rate) on the Israel plan and ≈ ₹2,010 (12 Oct rate) on our Jordan plan. That means two installs and two lines to switch between, against one regional eSIM.
Setting up the Israel eSIM before you fly
Install the eSIM in India; it connects when you land abroad. A QR code install on home Wi-Fi costs none of the plan’s days, because data plan validity starts at the first connection to an Israeli network. The one deadline is the 90-day install window from purchase.
On Android, the data-only Israel plans need the access point name typed in by hand from your order page; iPhone, the local-number plans and the Middle East plan set it themselves. The APN guide shows where to enter it, and the eSIM phone list confirms your model.
Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
Bank OTPs and your Indian number in Israel
SMS OTPs from your bank go to your Indian number, and our Israel plans, the ones with an Israeli number included, cannot receive them. Leave the Indian SIM in the phone as a second line with its mobile data off, and check with your operator that SMS reaches you in Israel.
No page can promise that every OTP will reach you. The OTP guide walks through the dual-SIM settings, and how card payments work explains the US-dollar charge.
Check before you fly
What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in Israel?
Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.
The first is the line for mobile data. On iPhone it is Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data; on Android, the SIM manager. Pick the travel line there; your Indian line stays on for calls and SMS, with its mobile data off.
The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats Israel as roaming for it.
The third is the APN. The plan does not set it by itself here: add annatel on Android under the eSIM line’s mobile network settings.
The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch airplane mode on and off, and let it find Annatel; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.
Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimgo.in with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)
For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, ≈ ₹285 (US$2.99). For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, ≈ ₹761 (US$7.99). If you video-call and stream every day, take the unlimited plan for 7 days, ≈ ₹1,714 (US$17.99), with 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.
I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If you need calls or SMS on your Indian number every day, a Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack carries them (compare the packs). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.
FAQ
Will my Indian SIM work in Israel?
A Jio,
Airtel or Vi SIM works once international roaming is on, but for mobile data plan on a roaming pack: without one, Airtel bars prepaid data abroad and Vi keeps mobile data off. The five packs in our table cost ₹951 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026.
Do I need an Israeli number?
Usually not. An Israeli number helps only when someone in Israel must phone you. Our local-number plans for Israel let you make calls within Israel, and none of them calls India; for maps, rides and WhatsApp, a data-only plan does the job without an Israel SIM card.
When do the days on an Israel eSIM start?
At its first connection to an Israeli network, not at install. A separate limit applies: install it within 90 days of purchase. Jio’s packs begin at first usage, and Airtel’s prepaid packs when your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage.
Can I get OTPs and use WhatsApp with an Israel eSIM?
WhatsApp runs on the eSIM’s data. Bank OTPs arrive by SMS on your Indian number, which no Israel plan of ours carries, so keep the Indian SIM active with its data off. No page can promise that every OTP will reach you.
Is there one eSIM for Israel and Jordan?
Yes: the Middle East plan lists both among its 13 countries. It sells unlimited rows only, from 3 to 30 days, slowing to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day. The Israel plan does not cover Jordan.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Find your exact model on our eSIM phone list before paying. The phone must run an eSIM and a physical SIM at the same time, so your Indian SIM can stay in for OTPs.
