Morocco SIM card for Indian travellers: Airtel and Vi roaming, local SIM or eSIM
Jio sells no data pack for Morocco; only the Global Pack balance (spent at standard roaming rates) lists it.
Airtel’s ₹998 and ₹1,298 prepaid packs and two Vi prepaid packs do cover Morocco (as listed on 13 Oct 2026). A data-only eSIM for Morocco installed in India starts at ≈ ₹382 (12 Oct rate) for 1 GB over 7 days, charged US$3.99 by card.

Morocco eSIM or local SIM: what Indian travellers need
In Morocco a local line needs paperwork: identity is checked before a local line is issued. A data eSIM bought in India works from landing for maps and messages, and leaves your Indian SIM in the phone for OTPs. A Morocco tourist SIM pays off only if you need a Moroccan number. Other destinations have their own country SIM guides.
| Option | Price | What you need | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack | ₹695 to ₹6,995 a pack from about ₹216 per GB | Roaming switched on and a pack bought before you fly | Data is fixed per pack; check that the pack covers Morocco |
| Pocket Wi-Fi router | Not verified | Collect it, keep it charged and return it | One connection for the group, only while you stay together |
| Local SIM bought on arrival | Not verified | A free SIM slot and a shop after landing | On a one-slot phone it replaces your Indian SIM and its OTPs |
| Travel eSIM from this site | from ≈ ₹380 US$3.99 by card; from ≈ ₹267 per GB | An eSIM phone that is not locked to one operator | Data only: no calls or SMS on your Indian number |
Pack prices as listed by Jio, Airtel and Vi on 13 Oct 2026; ₹ per GB is our derivation (price ÷ GB). eSIM prices are an estimate at the day’s rate; your card is charged in US$.
If your local SIM on arrival is a physical Morocco SIM card from a local operator, it also needs a free slot; on a single-slot phone it replaces your Indian SIM. We quote no Morocco SIM card price in dirhams because we have not verified current rates. India’s Ministry of Tourism counted 13,099 departures of Indian nationals to Morocco in 2025.
Our Morocco plans run on Orange, the Moroccan network, on 4G, with data only and no calls or SMS. The catalogue has four fixed-data plans and three unlimited data plans of 3, 5 and 7 days; unlimited speed drops to 1 Mbps after 3 GB in a day. Hotspot / tethering use draws on the same data allowance; our plan details do not state a hotspot rule. We hold no regional coverage data for Morocco, so ask us before a trip into remote areas.
eSIM for Morocco: most chosen plans
Charged US$3.99 by card. Your bank converts the US$ charge at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee — how card payment works.
What it costs per day

Airtel and Vi packs in Morocco, and why Jio has none
Of Jio’s lists, only the Global Pack names Morocco; the 100-country and 75-country packs, the World Pack and the data packs leave it out.
Airtel and Vi each sell packs that list it. The five rows below, the Jio balance among them, range from ₹998 to ₹3,495 as listed on 13 Oct 2026.
We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here. The table still shows when your operator pack is the better choice.
| Pack | Price | Data · days | Calls · SMS | ≈ ₹ per GB |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jio Global Pack (balance, not a data pack) | ₹1,101 | ₹933.05 balance · 28 days | standard roaming rates · 5 ISD SMS | no GB figure |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 5 days | ₹998 | 4 GB · 5 days | 150 min · 20 SMS | about ₹250 |
| Airtel prepaid IR, 10 days | ₹1,298 | 6 GB · 10 days | 200 min · 20 SMS | about ₹216 |
| Vi prepaid Ultra (non-UL zone) | ₹3,495 | 2 GB · 7 days | 200 min | about ₹1,748 |
| Vi prepaid Budget (Set 2) | ₹1,495 | 750 MB · 15 days | 100 min | about ₹1,993 |

Every row links to the operator’s document as read on 13 Oct 2026; ₹ per GB is our own division of price by data. The Global Pack also comes as ₹1,102 with a ₹933.90 balance. Airtel’s T&C carry the date 24 Sep 2026, and its FAQ page still shows older prices. Airtel sells one pack set for all covered countries, the cheapest being ₹698 for 1 GB over a day.
Vi gives Morocco less data for two separate reasons. Morocco is in Vi’s non-UL prepaid zone, so Ultra carries 2 GB and 200 minutes instead of FREE data. It is also in Budget Set 2, where ₹1,495 carries 750 MB. Vi’s postpaid terms list Morocco in Set 2, and we could not confirm that this country table is current.
A Jio user is left with the balance at standard rates or an eSIM. Our 5 GB plan for 30 days costs ≈ ₹1,340 (12 Oct rate), about ₹268 (US$2.80) per GB, charged US$13.99, plus any markup your card issuer applies. On 12 Oct 2026 that was more than Airtel’s ₹998 for 4 GB over 5 days, so for a trip of up to 5 days on 4 GB Airtel’s pack is the better choice, with 150 minutes added.
Airtel prepaid packs can be booked up to 30 days before travel; if you do not travel within 30 days, the pack expires with no reimbursement. Validity starts when the phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage. Our data plan validity starts on the first connection to a Moroccan network. See the Airtel roaming page.

A week in Morocco: roaming pack vs eSIM
5.6 GB for 7 days (0.8 GB a day, social media and photos): the cheapest prepaid way to get it.
Operator packs also carry calls and SMS on your Indian number; the eSIM is data only. Packs at the operator’s ₹ price, as listed on 13 Oct 2026; the eSIM at the market rate of 13 Oct, charged in US$. Work out your own trip.
Morocco has no 10-day plan: pick 7 or 15 days at purchase
No Morocco row lasts 10 days. Fixed plans run 7 days for 1 GB, 15 days for 2 GB, and 30 days for 3 GB or 5 GB; unlimited stops at 7 days. You fix the length when you buy, and this page promises no top-up, so choose the longer row if the trip might stretch.
Ten days at 0.3 GB a day come to about 3 GB (our calculation, profiles from the data guide). The 15-day 2 GB plan at ≈ ₹1,101 (12 Oct rate) falls short; the 30-day 3 GB plan at ≈ ₹1,292 (12 Oct rate) fits exactly, and 5 GB at ≈ ₹1,340 (12 Oct rate) leaves room.
Airtel’s ₹1,298 pack is built for this length: 6 GB and 200 minutes over 10 days.
At 0.8 GB a day the same ten days need about 8 GB, more than any fixed Morocco row. The Middle East plan has a 10-day unlimited row at ≈ ₹4,980 (12 Oct rate), charged US$51.99, slowing to 1 Mbps after 3 GB in a day.
Morocco plan or the Middle East plan for Morocco plus Egypt
The Middle East plan lists Morocco and Egypt among 13 countries, but sells unlimited data plans only. On 12 Oct 2026 its 7-day row cost ≈ ₹3,926 (12 Oct rate), charged US$40.99, and the Morocco 7-day unlimited row ≈ ₹4,405 (12 Oct rate), charged US$45.99; both slow to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day.
For fixed GB in both countries, buy two country plans: see the Egypt guide and the Middle East eSIM page. The Middle East plan sets its access point name automatically on Android; the Morocco plan does not.
Setting up the Morocco eSIM before you fly (manual APN on Android)
Install the eSIM in India; it connects when you land in Morocco. Look your phone up on the eSIM phone list, order on the Morocco eSIM page, and do the QR code install on home Wi-Fi. After touchdown, turn on data roaming for the eSIM line.
iPhones set the access point name automatically. Android phones need it entered by hand: copy the value from the order page or e-mail, and the APN guide shows where it goes. Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn’t work and it isn’t your phone’s fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
Bank OTPs and your Indian number in Morocco
Bank OTPs are texts to your Indian number, and the Morocco eSIM cannot take texts, so they never reach it. Keep the Indian SIM active as a second line with mobile data off, and ask your operator whether SMS works for you in Morocco on your plan. No page can promise that every OTP will reach you.
Airtel’s ₹118 prepaid IR activation, 28 days at standard rates, “allows unlimited incoming SMS” and needs an active base pack. Vi’s ₹118 standard-rates pack makes incoming SMS free for 28 days. Jio users should check the MyJio app. Dual-SIM set-up is in the OTP guide.
Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee. How card payments work.
Check before you fly
What if the eSIM doesn’t work when you land in Morocco?
Check four settings, in this order, before you write to us.
The first is the line for mobile data. On iPhone it is Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data; on Android, the SIM manager. Pick the travel line there; your Indian line stays on for calls and SMS, with its mobile data off.
The second is data roaming, for the eSIM line only. The eSIM is a foreign profile, so the phone treats Morocco as roaming for it.
The third is the APN. The plan does not set it by itself here: add globaldata on Android under the eSIM line’s mobile network settings.
The fourth is a restart. Restart the phone or switch airplane mode on and off, and let it find Orange; this can take a few minutes after you leave the plane.
Still no data? Write to us on WhatsApp or at support@esimgo.in with your order number, or go through the no-signal checklist. Do not delete the eSIM to “try again”: a deleted profile usually cannot be installed twice from the same code. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.
What I’d choose (and when NOT to buy the eSIM)
For a week of maps, rides and messaging I’d take 1 GB for 7 days, ≈ ₹380 (US$3.99). For two weeks or more, with photos and social media, I’d go for 5 GB for 30 days, ≈ ₹1,333 (US$13.99). If you video-call and stream every day, take the unlimited plan for 7 days, ≈ ₹4,382 (US$45.99), with 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.
I would not recommend the eSIM in three cases. If you need calls or SMS on your Indian number every day, a Jio, Airtel or Vi roaming pack carries them (compare the packs). If your phone has no eSIM or is locked to one operator, it cannot take the plan: check your model first. And if your group travels together all day and shares one connection, a pocket Wi-Fi can cover everyone.
FAQ
Will my Jio SIM work in Morocco?
Once international roaming is on, yes, but Jio sells no data pack for Morocco. Only the Global Pack balance lists it: ₹1,101, spent at standard roaming rates (13 Oct 2026).
Does Airtel international roaming cover Morocco?
Yes.
Airtel advertises 189 countries on one pack set, and Morocco is one of them. Prepaid ₹998 buys 4 GB and 150 minutes for 5 days (13 Oct 2026). Without a pack, Airtel bars prepaid data abroad.
Which Morocco plan fits a 10-day trip?
No plan lasts exactly 10 days. For about 3 GB take the 30-day 3 GB or 5 GB plan; the 15-day plan holds only 2 GB. For unlimited data over 10 days, the Middle East plan lists Morocco and has a 10-day row.
Can I get OTPs and use WhatsApp with a Morocco eSIM?
WhatsApp messages use the eSIM’s data. OTPs are texts to your Indian number, which this data-only eSIM cannot receive, so the Indian SIM stays in the phone.
Is one eSIM enough for Morocco and Egypt?
Only on unlimited data: the Middle East plan lists both countries but sells no fixed-GB plans. For fixed GB, buy a Morocco plan and an Egypt plan.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Our eSIM phone list shows the models we checked; an unlisted model should be treated as no. In the phone’s SIM settings, look for an option to add an eSIM.
