Does the Nothing Phone (3a) support eSIM in India?

Does Nothing 3a support eSIM? No. Nothing India’s tech-specs page for the Phone (3a) reads “e-SIM: Japan only”, and the page for the Phone (3a) Pro reads “e-SIM: Yes (excluding India)”. Of six Nothing and CMF models we checked on 12 Oct 2026, only the Phone (3) lists eSIM without a country limit.

Nothing’s wording is country-specific. “Excluding India” on the Phone (3a) Pro and “Japan only” on the Phone (3a), (3a) Lite and CMF Phone 2 Pro mean the version sold in India has no eSIM. The CMF Phone 1 page reads “e-SIM: No”. A review that says the (3a) Pro “supports eSIM” may describe a version sold elsewhere.

A Nothing phone bought abroad can differ from the Indian one. Open its SIM settings and look for an option to add an eSIM, such as “Add eSIM”. Menu names change between software versions, so we give no fixed path.

Nothing models and eSIM in India (table)

The table quotes the “e-SIM” field on six Nothing India tech-specs pages, opened on 12 Oct 2026. Only the Phone (3) lists eSIM for India. Four pages limit eSIM to other markets, and the CMF Phone 1 says no outright. Other brands are on the eSIM phone list.

No eSIM on your Nothing phone? Your options abroad

Phones without eSIM show no option to add one in their SIM settings, and a travel eSIM will not install on them. Three options remain: your operator’s roaming pack, a physical local SIM bought after you land, or a second phone with eSIM. A pocket WiFi alternative is one more device to carry and charge.

Operator pack. Jio, and Vi sell packs for the SIM already in your phone. Airtel’s prepaid pack at ₹998 gives 4 GB for 5 days, 150 minutes and 20 SMS, as listed on 12 Oct 2026 (Airtel T&C). Airtel sells one pack set for all covered countries. The roaming comparison pages put all three operators in tables with checked dates. We sell travel eSIMs, so we have an interest here; those tables also show when your operator pack is the better choice.

Local SIM. To buy a physical travel SIM instead, you need a free slot. On a phone with one usable slot you pull out your Indian SIM, and bank OTPs to that number stop until it is back. The eSIM vs physical SIM comparison sets out the trade-off.

Second phone. A spare phone with eSIM can carry the travel eSIM for data while your Nothing keeps the Indian SIM. On a Phone (3), or any Android phone that shows the add-eSIM option, the Android install guide covers setup at home on Wi-Fi.
