How to add data to your travel eSIM

To top up an eSIM bought from us, open the link in your order e-mail, find the card “Top up this plan” and tap “See top-ups”. You pick a pack, pay by card, and the data reaches the eSIM already on your phone within a few minutes. Not every plan can be topped up, so the order page decides.

Top-ups start on the order page, not on a country page. Order pages are not public, so use the link in your order e-mail. The pack you buy there lands on the eSIM you already have, so there is no new QR code to scan and no second install. Which packs you see depends on your plan.

  1. Open the link in your order e-mail.
  2. Find the card “Top up this plan”.
  3. Tap “See top-ups”. The page lists the packs available for your eSIM, each with its data, days and price in US$.
  4. Pick a pack and pay by card.

Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee. How card payments work.

If the payment went through, the page tells you the pack reaches your eSIM within a few minutes, with nothing to install. Check the new balance on the Balance card, as described in how to check how much data is left.

Which plans can be topped up

Whether a plan can be topped up depends on the plan, not on the country. Most plans can. Unlimited plans in Turkey, Jersey, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Qatar and Taiwan, each with 3 GB a day at full speed, cannot be topped up. In Afghanistan and Guam no plan can.

That makes six countries where only the plans with a fixed amount of data accept a top-up, and two where none do. The UAE unlimited plans, also 3 GB a day at full speed, can be topped up. The rule comes from our plan catalogue as read on 12 Oct 2026 (IST); the order page always shows what your own eSIM accepts.

If your eSIM is not eligible, the card shows no list. You see the message “No top-ups are available for this eSIM.” That is the signal to buy a new plan instead.

Top up or buy a new plan

A top-up keeps the same eSIM. A new plan is a new eSIM, so you scan a new QR code and install a second profile. Top up an eSIM when it is eligible and your trip stays in the same country. Buy a new plan when the list is empty or you cross into another country.

A top-up goes onto the profile you already installed, with no new QR code. The new pack queues behind the current one. It starts on its own when the current pack runs out or expires, and its days count from that moment, not from payment. Buying a top-up on day 2 of a 7-day plan therefore does not shorten the new pack.

A top-up extends the plan you hold, so Thailand data does not become Vietnam data. For a second country, buy that country’s plan and keep its line switched off until you land there. Most unlimited plans carry a daily fair-use line, covered in our unlimited plans guide.

FAQ

Do I need a new QR code after a top-up?

No. The top-up goes to the profile already on your phone. Nothing to scan or install.

When do the days of a top-up start?

The new pack waits behind your current one. It starts on its own when the current pack runs out or expires, and its days count from that moment.

What if my order page shows no top-ups?

The page then says that no top-ups are available for this eSIM. Buy a new plan from the country page instead and install it as a second eSIM.
