# Jio, Airtel & Vi roaming in New Zealand vs a travel eSIM (checked 13 Oct 2026)

Search for a Jio pack that covers Australia and you land on the "US Mexico and Canada" pack, whose own text names Australia but stops short of New Zealand. Jio international roaming plans for New Zealand run through the 100-country pack instead, while Airtel and Vi need no such detour. Eleven of the twelve packs in our tables cap their data, and each gets a price per GB, checked on 13 Oct 2026.

## Short answer: which Indian packs cover New Zealand

A fortnight on Jio's ₹1,551 pack gives 8 GB, about ₹194 per GB. A month on its ₹2,851 pack gives 12 GB, about ₹238 per GB, and Airtel's ₹2,998 prepaid pack gives 10 GB, about ₹300. Vi prints the Ultra data as FREE in New Zealand. Prices as listed on 13 Oct 2026.

Which Indian SIM works in New Zealand? Jio, Airtel and Vi all list it and work once roaming is on, with a pack for data. A New Zealand eSIM from India covers data only: ours runs on Spark, which the storefront shows as 4G, and its days start at the first connection in New Zealand.

## Jio in New Zealand: the 100-country pack, not the US-and-Australia pack

Jio's "US Mexico and Canada" pack (₹1,555 for 12 GB over 15 days) is described as applicable in the USA, Mexico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, Puerto Rico and Australia only. New Zealand is on the 100-country list, the 75-country list, the World Pack list and the data-pack list, so the Jio New Zealand pack comes from those lists; the rows below are a selection.

Jio sells the same packs to prepaid and postpaid users. On pack validity, Jio says: "Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data."

## Airtel and Vi packs for New Zealand (table)

The Airtel IR pack New Zealand travellers buy comes from the single prepaid set; it can be booked up to 30 days before travel, and if you do not travel within 30 days it expires with no reimbursement. Vi's rows come from two prepaid lists: New Zealand is in the UL zone and in Budget Set 1.

Vi's 28-day iRoamFree pack (₹6,995, 15 GB, 120 minutes a day in the UL zone) stops two days short of a month. Vi's postpaid table lists New Zealand in Set 1, where Vi prints data as FREE; we could not confirm that this country table is current. Vi's prepaid T&C say IR packs are "not applicable for customers in J&K, Assam and North East". Airtel's FAQ page still shows older prices; the T&C dated 24 Sep 2026 list ₹998 and ₹1,298.

## Australia and New Zealand on one trip: packs vs the Oceania plan

On Jio, Sydney plus Queenstown takes the 100-country pack, since the US pack ends at Australia. Airtel's single list and Vi's UL zone name both countries too. Our Oceania plan lists Australia, New Zealand and six more countries, sold in fixed-GB rows only. ## Cost per GB for a 10-day and a 30-day New Zealand trip

Longer stays are where packs differ most. We take each operator's shortest pack that spans the whole trip, order by price per GB and skip Vi's FREE-data rows. Every figure is our division of price by data, from prices listed on 13 Oct 2026.

Ten days: Airtel's ₹1,298 pack ranks first at about ₹216 per GB, ₹130 a day. Jio's ₹951 pack comes second at about ₹238 per GB, ₹95 a day. Vi's 10-day Budget pack is about ₹796 per GB; its 10-day Ultra is left out because Vi prints that data as FREE.

Thirty days: Jio ranks first. Its ₹3,999 (20 GB) and ₹5,999 (30 GB) packs come to about ₹200 per GB, and its ₹2,851 pack (12 GB) to about ₹238, the smallest outlay at ₹95 a day. Airtel's ₹2,998 pack is about ₹300 per GB, and Vi's 30-day Budget pack about ₹600.
