# Roaming in Kenya from India: Airtel and Vi packs, Jio's gap, and a travel eSIM (checked 19 Oct 2026)

Jio sells no data pack for Kenya; only the Global Pack balance (spent at standard roaming rates) lists it. Airtel's prepaid set includes Kenya, and Vi gives two answers: its prepaid packs are capped there, while its postpaid Set 1 prints data as FREE. The 14 packs in our tables cost ₹755 to ₹5,195 (about ₹216–₹1,748 per GB where the data is capped), checked 19 Oct 2026.

## Short answer: Airtel and Vi sell packs for Kenya, Jio only a balance

Airtel's ₹1,298 prepaid pack gives 6 GB over 10 days, about ₹216 per GB, and its ₹2,998 pack 10 GB over 30 days, about ₹300. Vi's 7-day prepaid Ultra gives 2 GB in Kenya, about ₹1,748 per GB. Jio's only option is a balance with no GB figure.

Which Indian SIM works in Kenya? A Jio, Airtel or Vi SIM roams there once international roaming is on, but only Airtel and Vi sell data packs; without one, Airtel bars prepaid data abroad. A Kenya eSIM from India carries data only: ours runs on Safaricom 4G, and its days start at the first connection in Kenya.

India's Ministry of Tourism counts 87,967 departures to Kenya in 2025; we hold no 2024 figure or purpose share to set beside it.

## Jio international roaming plans for Kenya: the Global Pack balance, and no data pack

There is no Jio Kenya pack with data: Kenya is in none of Jio's 100-country, 75-country, World Pack or data-pack lists, only in the Global Pack list. That pack is a balance, ₹933.05 or ₹933.90 plus 5 ISD SMS for 28 days, spent at standard roaming rates, which are not in the lists we read; check them in the MyJio app.

Prepaid and postpaid Jio users get the same packs. eSIM Go is not affiliated with Jio, Airtel, Vi or BSNL. Pack details are taken from their own pages on the date shown.

So a Jio user has two routes to data in Kenya: the balance at standard rates, or a travel eSIM next to the Jio SIM. For pack validity, Jio states: "Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data."

## Airtel and Vi packs for Kenya: Vi prepaid capped, Vi postpaid in Set 1 (table)

The Airtel IR pack Kenya trips run on is Airtel India's standard prepaid set. Book up to 30 days before travel; if you do not travel within 30 days, it expires with no reimbursement. On Vi prepaid, Kenya is non-UL with Budget Set 1, so Ultra data is capped; Vi postpaid has its own table.

Vi postpaid lists Kenya in Set 1, where its unlimited packs print data as FREE and calls as free, so there is no GB to divide; the per-day figure is our division. We could not confirm that this country table is current.

BSNL lists Kenya as a postpaid partner only, and a partner network is not a pack. Vi's prepaid T&C say IR packs are "not applicable for customers in J&K, Assam and North East". Airtel's FAQ page still shows older prices than its T&C of 24 Sep 2026.

## Kenya with Tanzania or Uganda: packs vs the East Africa plan

Jio's World Pack and data packs list Tanzania and Uganda, not Kenya, so a Jio pack bought for Dar es Salaam stops short of Nairobi. Airtel's single list names all three. Vi prepaid puts Kenya and Tanzania in Budget Set 1 and Uganda in Budget Set 2; Vi postpaid is Set 1 in Kenya and Set 2 in Tanzania and Uganda.

## Cost per GB for a 7-day and a 15-day Kenya trip

The verdict test, put plainly: each operator's shortest pack that lasts the whole trip, ranked by price per GB, with Vi's FREE-data rows dropped because they have nothing to divide. The ₹ per GB figures are our division of price by data, from prices listed on 19 Oct 2026.

A week: Airtel's shortest pack that lasts seven days is the 10-day ₹1,298, first at about ₹216 per GB. Vi's 7-day Ultra comes to about ₹1,748 per GB. Jio has no data pack to rank.

Fifteen days: Airtel's fit is the 30-day ₹2,998 at about ₹300 per GB. Vi's 15-day Budget pack, 2 GB for ₹1,495, is about ₹748, while its 14-day Ultra falls a day short.

Each row links its operator document and check date. For Jio international roaming plans for Kenya we read five Jio lists; Kenya is only on the Global Pack list. Vi's prepaid zones are an image we typed by hand; confirm Kenya in the Vi app.

### How much is the Airtel IR pack for Kenya?
