# Roaming in Egypt from India: Jio's data-only option, Airtel and Vi packs, and a travel eSIM (checked 13 Oct 2026)

Jio international roaming plans for Egypt are data only. Jio lists Egypt for its data packs and for none of its voice-and-data packs, so all five Jio packs below carry no minutes. Airtel and Vi sell packs with minutes and data. All 17 rows below are dated and linked.

## Short answer: Airtel and Vi sell voice + data for Egypt, Jio only data

Which Indian SIM works in Egypt with calls? Airtel and Vi, through packs with minutes. A week or ten days fit Airtel's ₹1,298 pack (6 GB over 10 days, about ₹216 per GB); Jio's ₹599 pack gives 1 GB for 7 days, without calls. Prices as listed on 13 Oct 2026.

An Egypt eSIM from India carries data only too, so calls on your Indian number stay with a pack. Install the eSIM in India; it connects when you land abroad. India's Ministry of Tourism counts 60,788 departures to Egypt in 2025.

## Jio in Egypt: data packs only, no calls on the pack

The Jio international roaming plans for Egypt come from one family, the data packs, each slowing to 64 kbps once its data is used. Egypt is on none of Jio's voice-and-data lists (100-country, World Pack, 75-country), so there is no Jio Egypt pack with calls. Prepaid and postpaid customers get the same packs.

For calls, Jio offers two partial answers. The Global Pack lists Egypt, but it is a balance spent at standard roaming rates, with no GB allowance. Jio's Wi-Fi calling packs list Egypt too: ₹121 for 100 minutes, or ₹521 for 500 minutes over 10 days, for Wi-Fi calls to India and incoming Wi-Fi calls on a phone that supports them. On pack validity, Jio states: "Your plan validity begins only with your first usage—call, text, or data."

## Airtel and Vi packs for Egypt (table)

The Airtel IR pack Egypt-bound travellers buy is Airtel's one set for every covered country, priced in the T&C dated 24 Sep 2026. Vi roaming Egypt rows come from two prepaid lists: the non-UL zone for Ultra packs and Budget Set 2, whose data is smaller than Set 1's.

Vi's Ultra and Budget rows are capped for two separate reasons and never mix. Vi's postpaid table lists Egypt in Set 2: ₹3,999 for 10 days gives 14 GB, ₹4,999 for 14 days 21 GB; we could not confirm that this country table is current. Vi's IR packs are "not applicable for customers in J&K, Assam and North East", in Vi's words. Airtel's FAQ page still shows older prices; the T&C list ₹998 and ₹1,298.

## Egypt with Jordan or Morocco: packs vs our Egypt, Middle East and Africa plans

Adding Jordan changes little for packs: Airtel lists both countries, and Jio's data packs list Jordan too, again without calls. Morocco differs for Jio, which lists it only for the Global Pack balance. On our side, the route decides the plan.

## Cost per GB for a 7-day and a 10-day Egypt trip

Ranking rule: for each operator, the shortest pack that lasts the whole trip, sorted by price per GB (our division of price by data), without Vi's FREE-data rows; Vi prepaid has none for Egypt.

Seven days: Airtel's ₹1,298 pack leads at about ₹216 per GB. Jio's shortest fit is the ₹599 data pack at about ₹599, without calls; its 7-day ₹2,999 pack comes to about ₹600. Vi's 7-day Ultra costs about ₹1,748 per GB.

Ten days: Airtel's ₹1,298 pack fits exactly, about ₹216 per GB or ₹130 a day. Jio's shortest fit is ₹999 for 14 days, about ₹500. Vi's 10-day Ultra at ₹4,695 comes to about ₹1,565; its Budget ₹995 gives only 250 MB.
