A data-only eSIM for Iraq installed in India starts at ≈ ₹333 (13 Oct rate) for 1 GB over 7 days, charged US$3.49 by card. ## Iraq eSIM or local SIM: what Indian travellers need An Iraq trip needs data for maps, taxi apps and messages home. A data-only eSIM provides it from landing, and your Indian SIM stays in the phone for OTPs. An Iraq tourist SIM from a local operator, bought as a local SIM on arrival, adds a number for local calls. A physical Iraq SIM card from a local operator needs a free slot, so on a single-slot phone it replaces your Indian SIM. We quote no Iraq SIM card price in dinars because we have not verified current rates. India's Ministry of Tourism counted 98,337 departures of Indian nationals to Iraq in 2025. Our Iraq plans run on two local networks, Korek and Zain, both on 4G, with data only and no calls or SMS. The catalogue has six plans, all fixed data: 1 GB for 7 days, 2 GB for 15 days, and 3, 5, 10 or 20 GB for 30 days. There is no unlimited plan. Jio's data packs come in other sizes, and we do not quote a country count for them. Airtel's T&C carry the date 24 Sep 2026, and its FAQ page still shows older prices. Airtel's prepaid validity starts when your phone latches on to a covered foreign network and makes chargeable usage; our data plan validity starts at the first connection to an Iraqi network. Three checks by trip length, all on 13 Oct 2026. Up to 5 days and 4 GB, Airtel's ₹998 cost less than our 3 GB plan at ≈ ₹1,095 (13 Oct rate), with more data and 150 minutes. For 14 to 15 days and 2 GB, our plan at ≈ ₹761 (13 Oct rate), charged US$7.99, cost less than Jio's ₹1,499, though Jio adds 100 minutes and 100 SMS. For a month at 10 GB, our plan at ≈ ₹2,381 (13 Oct rate), about ₹238 (US$2.50) per GB, cost less than Airtel's ₹2,998, and Airtel adds 300 minutes. Your card is charged in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction (forex markup) fee. The ≈ ₹ price (charged in USD) is an estimate at the day's rate. ## Vi's 20- and 40-day pack that also lists Iraq Vi's Haj pack names three countries: Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Iraq. It costs ₹1,199 for 2 GB over 20 days and ₹2,388 for 4 GB over 40 days, with 150 or 300 outgoing minutes and free incoming calls. The 40-day row is the longest pack in our table. For a stay between 20 and 40 days, set the three options side by side. Vi gives 4 GB over 40 days at about ₹597 per GB. Airtel gives 10 GB over 30 days at about ₹300. Our 30-day plans run from 3 GB to 20 GB; the 10 GB plan costs ≈ ₹2,381 (13 Oct rate). Within those 30 days more data can be [added online](/help/top-up-esim/); a stay past 30 days needs a second plan. Vi's prepaid terms state: "IR packs are not applicable for customers in J&K, Assam and North East". Prepaid roaming is excluded for Assam and North East customers altogether. Vi's other Iraq rows are separate reasons for limited data. Iraq is in the non-UL zone, so Ultra gives 2 GB instead of data printed as FREE. It is also in Budget Set 2, where ₹1,495 carries 750 MB over 15 days. Vi's postpaid terms list Iraq in Set 2, and we could not confirm that this table is current. ## Iraq plan or the Middle East plan for a two-country trip Our Middle East plan lists Iraq among 13 countries, with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, but it sells unlimited plans only. Iraq has no unlimited plan, so one eSIM across two countries means unlimited data at 3 GB a day and then 1 Mbps. Fixed data means one plan per country. On 13 Oct 2026 the Middle East plan with 7 days of unlimited data costs ≈ ₹3,906 (13 Oct rate), charged US$40.99. Two country plans of 10 GB for 30 days cost ≈ ₹2,381 (13 Oct rate) for Iraq and ≈ ₹2,095 (13 Oct rate) for Saudi Arabia. Unlimited suits a short, heavy trip; two fixed plans suit a longer one, at the cost of two installs. The Middle East plan sets its access point name automatically on Android; the Iraq plan does not. ## Setting up the Iraq eSIM before you fly (manual APN on Android) Install the eSIM in India; it connects when you land in Iraq. Look your phone up on the [eSIM phone list](/esim-compatible-phones/), order on the [Iraq eSIM page](/esim-iraq/), and do the QR code install on home Wi-Fi. After touchdown, turn on data roaming for the eSIM line. iPhones set the access point name automatically. Android phones need it entered by hand: copy the value from the order page or e-mail, and the [APN guide](/help/apn-settings/) shows where it goes. Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed. ## Bank OTPs and your Indian number in Iraq Bank OTPs are texts to your Indian number, and the Iraq eSIM carries no SMS. Keep the Indian SIM active as a second line with its mobile data off, and ask your operator whether SMS reaches you in Iraq on your plan. No page can promise that every OTP will reach you. Two different ₹118 products help here. Airtel's ₹118 prepaid IR activation, 28 days at standard rates, "allows unlimited incoming SMS" and needs an active base pack.
