# How to add a travel eSIM on a Motorola: step by step (Motorola's own path, checked 13 Oct 2026)

## Short answer: the add-eSIM path Motorola prints

How to add eSIM in Motorola: go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs & mobile network, tap the option to download and set up an eSIM, and follow the onscreen instructions. Motorola Support IN prints this path (checked 13 Oct 2026). Install the eSIM in India, on home Wi-Fi, before departure. It connects when you land abroad.

The Motorola pages we read describe no QR scan and no code entry, so we do not attribute one to Motorola. Other makers: [Android install hub](/how-to-install-esim/android/).

## Before you start: read the 'SIM Card' line of your Indian model

Motorola eSIM phones in India are few: only 9 of the 31 Motorola models we reviewed on motorola.in on 12 Oct 2026 list an eSIM. The "SIM Card" line decides. The Edge 60 Fusion reads "Dual SIM (pSIM + pSIM)", two physical SIMs and no eSIM. The Razr 60 reads "Dual SIM (pSIM + eSIM)".

The Edge 70 Max is sold in three SIM versions, and eSIM is in 2 of 3, so check which one you hold. The Razr 60 Ultra, the Edge 70 and every Moto G model we reviewed are phones without eSIM. The [Motorola eSIM page](/esim-motorola/) has the checked rows, and the [eSIM phone list](/esim-compatible-phones/) covers other brands.

The pages we read are for the razr 60 and the razr 2025, so menu names on another model can differ.

## Step by step: add the travel eSIM

Motorola Support IN article 185780, "eSIM & SIM card - motorola razr 60" (no date printed, read 13 Oct 2026), lists the steps under "Set up eSIM", for when "your carrier provided you with an eSIM". Install before departure. Keep your order page open on a laptop or a second phone.

1. "If you don't have a network connection, connect to Wi-Fi."
2. "Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs & mobile network."
3. "Tap the option to download and set up an eSIM, then follow onscreen instructions."

Motorola's razr 60 user guide (help.motorola.com, "based on Android 15") gives step 3 a label: "Tap Download new SIM to get and set up the eSIM, then follow onscreen instructions." It adds: "If you don't see this option, contact your carrier to confirm if your phone supports eSIMs and to get activation instructions."

Neither page describes the screen that follows, so the next part is ours, not Motorola's. Use the eSIM QR code or the activation code from your order page, whichever the phone asks for. If it asks for two fields, the SM-DP+ address and the activation code are both on the order page. For almost every destination we sell, the plan days start at the first connection to a network abroad; the country page states the rule for each destination.

## Data line and data roaming on a Motorola

Choose the travel eSIM as the SIM for mobile data when you land. The razr 60 guide gives the route under "Choose preferred SIM for mobile data", but no Motorola page we read prints a data-roaming path. Keep mobile data and data roaming off on your Jio, Airtel or Vi line.

The guide's steps (read 13 Oct 2026):

1. "Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs & mobile network."
2. "Tap SIM for mobile data."
3. "Select your preferred SIM."

It then says: "If you want to use your other SIM, turn Switch SIM automatically on", and "If you never want to use your other SIM for mobile data, turn Switch SIM automatically off". With your Indian SIM kept as the OTP line, the second option keeps data off your Indian plan. That reading is ours.

Motorola's pages we read print no path for data roaming, so we print none. Keep data roaming on for the eSIM and off for the Indian SIM.

Our eSIM carries data only, so it cannot receive bank OTPs. Keep the Indian SIM for calls and SMS, and ask your operator whether SMS works abroad on your plan. No page can promise that every OTP will reach you. The [guide to keeping your Indian SIM for OTPs](/help/keep-indian-sim-for-otp/) explains the dual-SIM settings. For an APN, see the [APN settings guide](/help/apn-settings/).

## No eSIM option on your Motorola

If SIMs & mobile network shows no download option, Motorola says to contact your carrier to confirm whether the phone supports eSIM. In India that usually means a model without eSIM, such as the Edge 60 Fusion, and a travel eSIM cannot go on that phone. Check the SIM Card line before you buy a plan.

Do not erase anything to try again. Motorola notes: "Only erase your eSIM when instructed to do so by a support technician." A deleted profile usually cannot be installed again from the same code, so write to us with your order number instead. After the trip, see [how to delete an eSIM](/help/delete-esim/).

Full refund within 30 days of purchase, as long as the eSIM has not connected to any network. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.

If the eSIM is installed but not working abroad, the [checklist for an eSIM with no signal](/help/esim-no-signal/) lists the next checks.

## FAQ

### How to add eSIM in Motorola?

Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs & mobile network, tap the option to download and set up an eSIM, and follow the onscreen instructions. That is the path Motorola Support IN prints. Do it on home Wi-Fi, with your order page open on another screen.

### How do I activate an eSIM on a Motorola?

Install it from SIMs & mobile network on home Wi-Fi in India, before you fly. For almost every destination we sell, the plan days start at the first connection to a network abroad, not at install; the country page states the rule. Motorola's pages state no activation time, and neither do we.

### Can I install an eSIM without a QR code?

Motorola's pages we read describe no code step, so we cannot quote one. If the phone offers a field for a code, use the activation code from your order page. If it asks for two fields, the SM-DP+ address and the code are both on the order page.

### Which Motorola phones have eSIM?

Motorola India lists eSIM for 9 of the 31 models we reviewed on 12 Oct 2026, among them the Razr 60 and the Edge 60 Stylus. The Edge 60 Fusion has none. The Edge 70 Max has eSIM in 2 of 3 versions. Read the SIM Card line of your model.

### Why is my eSIM not working abroad?

Check that the eSIM is the SIM for mobile data, that data roaming is on for the eSIM, that mobile data is off on your Indian SIM, and that you are in a covered country. Restart the phone once. If the eSIM doesn't work and it isn't your phone's fault, we refund the payment whether or not it was installed.

### Can I reuse the QR code if I delete the eSIM?

Do not count on it. A deleted profile usually cannot be installed again from the same code. Keep the travel eSIM in the phone until the trip ends. If you deleted it by mistake, write to us with your order number before you buy another plan.
